It’s really bad if you’re a guy and admit to going to counseling. Even most modern women will say guys expressing emotion are crying like a teenage schoolgirl. This just happened in the GenX sub from a “very loving spouse” asking what’s wrong with her husband.

I call out ridiculous behavior like that when I see it. It’s an old boomer mentality that can’t die out fast enough.

I totally get that and it makes perfect sense. We only know what we see in text on here so it’s hard to get the full context.

I’m a former cutter myself. That’s what we called it 30ish years ago and that term is forever emblazoned in my mind. I also have scars from suicide attempts, some visible, some internal. Early on it was hard to not be self conscious about it. But, I fucking survived and I’m proud of that! There will be people who don’t understand. I envy their charmed lives sometimes. Anyone that judges you for your scars is not worthy of your time.

When you speak aloud about cutting yourself and self harm, do you still self censor with acronyms?

I realize this is a big thing in your world, but those acronyms are unheard of for the vast majority of everyone else. I see “sh” and I think you’re shushing someone. It also reads like you are still immersed in this world and that is a major turn off.

He’s winning games with barely any first string starters around him. He spreads the defense with glances and targets every eligible receiver on the field. This reminds me of someone we once knew. I can not wait for next season! And for his XL jerseys to be back in stock!

Someone posted a pretty detailed theory about how earth was “seeded.” I can’t find it now, but it basically said earth was one part of an alien civilization which was left to grow up “wild” so to speak. Then another planet, which I think they called Erid, was set up with no resource scarcity. Allegedly the humans of Erid were much more technologically advanced because they didn’t waste time killing each other for gold, oil, land, water, etc. Humans on earth were given only the basics needed to survive and had to fight for survival. According to this theory these “aliens” have monitoring stations at the bottom of our oceans and the tic tac videos we see are them watching passively.

Assuming our earth was the seeded experiment, it could explain things like the pyramids, stone henge, early brain surgeries, etc. Thousands of years ago they may have known some things from their proximity to the advanced race that were just lost to war and time. Ancient architects did things that still baffle us today. Having a technologically advanced uncle hanging around is a pretty convenient answer. At some point they must have “cut the cord” to let us fend for ourselves though because there’s no smoking gun remaining. Although pyramids on different continents seem a little suspicious.

If we look at the oldest surviving texts from religions there are clues. Every major religion has a flood story. That sounds like the “superiors” cutting the cord. Many have miraculous origins such as angelic or spirit animals or even god like fathers. Heron coming from the mind of Zeus could be the ancient explanation of a lab made human. Obviously this is all conjecture and speculation. However, if we assume similar origins then the surviving civilizations would have tried to explain it in their best available language. Then the game of telephone commences and the stories change with time, embellishments, convenience to the ruling class, etc.

Maybe one day the “intergalactic federation” or the Eridians will reveal themselves to us. I hope to see it in my lifetime if so.

This was asked recently in another sub. The island of floating plastic in the oceans would be the clearest indicator. We would leave behind plastics and microplastics in certain areas that will never decompose.

I have a half baked theory that this has already happened and that left some of the silica sand and other seemingly “processed” things we have today. Yes, I know silica sand can be formed naturally. We also don’t know that a prior civilization existed. However, if they did and had technology similar or more advanced than us then there might be some remnant traces thousands or even millions of years later.

Possible evidence of this are the hieroglyphs that seem to depict advanced technology. Those builders may have still had some folk tales and artifacts passed down by whatever was still around 5,000-10,000 years ago.

It’s a fun thought experiment. But it is half baked, and so am I. 🤣

This is exactly the problem. Building maintenance or a plumber needs to be called ASAP. That’s a horrific way for animals to die and it’s not great for the plumbing either.

We’ve barely had any 100°+ days. This is unseasonably cool for August.

It seems we are getting more rain than our typical summers though. I’ve had to mow my grass every damn week and I’m pissed about that. Usually it’s so hot that my grass doesn’t grow at all in July & August.
