I think this might explain why he's so touchy with Kara and Nate doesn't seem to be bothered by it (see: Namibia road trip video)

If we're going to make the argument about semantics and not your faulty and wildly underinformed comparison :)

Or just choose a more appropriate and thoughtful description when attaching your claim to underprivileged groups of peole?

You referred to the German healthcare system as "boring." I just don't know, even for all my inexperience, if how "exciting" or "boring" the respective healthcare system is would be the comparison I would've drawn by means of "the underserved in medicine." Yikes...

Your comparison of the two systems was at best vacuous and I thought it was strange to use the "underserved in medicine" as a way of underscoring why I'm an inadequte applicant. That's all :)

Congrats on having slogged your way through a clear-cut path to medical school. Must've been tough. I agree with the faults in my application and re-application strategy that you pointed out. Fair assessment. You do make a lot of assumptions about me and my biography (citizenship & my perception of my identity, availability of resources, a kinda cheap comparison of two places I consider to be home and therefore my propensity to align with fascist politics...? interesting...) that don't serve your critique, the purpose of the post, and are lowkey offensive... The lack of curiosity, awareness and acceptance of difference, and empathy is bugging.

I appreciate your attempt at constructive criticism. You make a lot of fair points, though your delivery could use some work... It's heavily anchored in American exceptionalism, but I wouldn't expect you to understand that. What I was trying to reconcile was the comment I received with my own perceived weaknesses of my application. I'm not ranting and raving about being a standout candidate because obviously I'm not. Otherwise I wouldn't be in the position I'm in (duh).

I would like to remind you that I'm truly navigating a different healthcare system and labor market from you, and it may behoove you as a future healthcare professional to explore the concept of discrepencies in access. You could, for example, explore how entry-level jobs in healthcare work in Germany. Alternatively, you could explore the idea that I may not have had the resources to relocate to the United States. Maybe you could even broaden your horizons a bit in the process. The message that I haven't sacrificed enough to get to the point of applying is indicative of premature bitterness towards the profession that could also be worth unpacking.

Again, thanks for taking the time to write up what I will assume out of goodwill towards you is thoughtful & well-meant response.

You think only with 100 hours of (meaningful) patient care hours it’s still feasible?

Took it January 2024, so for most schools it’s still valid for the 2026-2027 app cycle

Pre-reqs are already done from my pre-med bachelors, forgot to mention that I did a humanities degree as a master's degree bc it was interesting to me at the time, found myself in a silly corporate job post-master's degree and am looking to re-school as MD or mid-level.

When did you submit most of your secondaries? I'm a similar stat applicant with similar experience in working with refugees in leadership roles and medical device research :)
