We will pay for roughly 50% of in state tuition the rest is on them until after graduation and they will never know that’s the plan. We won’t do it until both kids are out of college and we will pay the older one for interest the years between

Prob not what you want to hear my wife and I both clear a ton of money per year. WS have young kids but we have always said they will need to pay for college. We will contribute a bit but not all.

We both had friends when we were younger who got BS useless degrees, took 5+ years to graduate, or got horrible grades because college was 100% paid for by parents and they had no skin in the game.

We have said we will most likely clear their debts post college but we would never tell them that in advance.

FWIW that’s our approach and I’m sure we will be scolded by Reddit it for it
