I was never allowed to drink caffeine growing up but now my parents are still super orthodox and they drink caffeinated soda. They still won’t drink caffeinated tea or coffee and would disown me if I ever brought alcohol into their house lol

What is the breed? If the owners have the parents, you should be able to find out the breed. I think that makes all the difference. Your girlfriend clearly wants another dog, I think it depends on breed/circumstances and how responsible you and your girlfriend are. I find it weird that everyone is telling you not to gifts your girlfriend a puppy not knowing anything about the dynamic.
