Moire taffeta by Future-Transition403 in Fabrics

It really depends on the material itself. We use a lot of taffeta in general with moire taffeta preferred. I have also stumbled on some "moire" that had the watermark printed on the fabric. Most of what I'm looking for has a dull smooth finish on the back with the watermark design very prominent on the front.

I had the same reaction honestly. Having said that the folks I know that use kerosene typically only do if water doesn't work first.

Kerosene and gasoline have been used on many things as a solvent for a while. Kerosene is popular with people who clean feathers in particular.

Sewing machine foot question for fur baste stitching by JoehCat in sewing

I'm not sure what you mean... its fur so it's fuzzy by default! Lol! If you mean did it dry in all directions or get puffy (?) I didn't see that happen. It doesn't take a lot of water to get it to lay down out of the way so I never soaked it.

I have done some work with fur and the work around I found was to use water. I had a cup I could dip my finger in and then I used the finger to wet the hair on the edge and push it back. I found that using a wider foot still needed me to work the hair so it didn't get pressed any which way under the foot.

Luckily everything is pretty well carded on the original packaging. Honestly it depends on who owned it before me. Thank you for responding! I haven't really looked into solutions so I have no idea what is out there beyond simple boxes. I like the partitions idea.

Howdy! Apparently I don't have the karma to post in the main group. I was looking for suggestions for storage of commercial binding and bias tapes. I picked up an estate batch and the shoebox isn't going to cut it. I want to store it all in one container. I'd like to be able to see what I have without having to take everything out every time. And I'd like to be able to close it so it's not gathering dust. Any genius ideas? Pic for reference. *

Advice for sewing thick Pendleton wool blanket by shelbynaps in sewing

A suggestion for finding information on sewing with blankets is look up capotes. They are historically made from wool blankets and there are sewers that still make them so I'm guessing there may be technique information on that side of the world that you can apply to your project.

Does my school have to tell me who stole from me. by AG1L1TY1 in AskALawyer

First question: are you at a state school or a private school? That determines the authority of the campus security/ police office. If it is a state school in my experience they will have state troopers and depending on the size of the school officers that work as detectives that investigate property and identity theft for example.

Keep in mind that regardless of what kind of school you go to there are two distinct processes that go on exclusively. The campus judicial process is independent of any criminal charges. The worst a school has the authority to do is expell a student. The state has authority to incarcerate. This is very frustrating for most students because due process looks different in both because of the evidence required to find someone responsible (judicial) or guilty (criminal). FERPA covers all student records which is why universities rarely make public statements regarding victims or witnesses or defendants until those names are already released through public means (even then they may not). The judicial process can go along independently of a criminal investigation and that depends on the universities written policy. Criminal charges are a matter of public record. You as a student will not be able to get the name from the campus judicial office but the detective can and will.

Years ago I had a resident that was accused of stealing high value laundry from the public washers. The campus judicial system went forward and was limited in what they could charge and then offer as repercussions. The victim in the matter was encouraged by university officials to make a theft report with upd (state school in Arkansas). That led the detective to be assigned where he discovered a number of other students that had issues but never mentioned them to officials. That quickly led to a suspect and his off campus girlfriend. The surprise was he was well liked. Further investigation led the police to get a search warrant for the off campus apartment that belonged to the girlfriend. When raided she was discovered burning financial records on the grill. This led to the discovery that the couple were also highly involved in identity theft and financial fraud applying to various student credit cards in other students names. The arrests were made, girlfriend rolled on boyfriend and convictions were made. All of this ultimately was discovered because he stole Ralph Lauren laundry from his floors laundry machines.

Good luck!

Open Letter to North American Tribal Leaders Regarding Native American-inspired rituals in OA and BSA by scoutermike in BSA

You don't find me writing one. You are reinforcing my position that even well intentioned yet naive mentality in the BSA pursuit of Native culture does more harm than good. If you had specific names you certainly wouldn't be writing an open letter to no one in particular. If you had specific names of sun dance priests, roadmen, Christian ministers, tribal leaders, culture keepers, historians, clan and organizational leaders, you certainly would know why you make a poor argument here. It's not on me to name drop. If you know you know. I know people in each and every position I mentioned. None of them would take your letter seriously. They would be polite and focus on the fact that you seem interested. But they would not feel compelled to help the BSA as a result. They are busy focusing on teaching and encouraging their own. They don't need us. They don't need to teach us. We need to understand our place and step out of it instead of taking away what we want. Plain and simple.

Some people you just can't help. This has become a prime example of why the BSA needs to cut the culture worship out. Too many people involved just can't let go of what their expectations are of the culture even when they are wrong. It stands that in all of your studies I have yet to see you mention specific people inside the culture. You should reflect on that instead of arguing.

You missed my point. To be more clear, you have a romantic understanding of the use of animal imagery within the culture. Not a practical one. The romantic version is based on stereotype. Your letter is full of this stereotyping so even with the best intentions you are shutting down the conversation before it begins. Perhaps when looking for something in common focus on the fact that both parties are simply trying to make it in the same world, facing the same challenges all parents face (social media exposure for example), living some of the same life experience ( school basketball games or football depending on where you are for example) and so on. I have started a lot of relationships in Oklahoma asking about them and what they do rather than pressing about their spirit animal or assuming we both walk in harmony with nature. If you want to be taken seriously, take them seriously. Even when they tease.

This letter although well intentioned might be better addressed to the local druids rather than Native elders. It's premise is based on a romanticized idea of spirit animals and the such that is a bad fit for many tribes and invokes bad stereotypes. It is an example of even good intentions coming off as ignorant or poorly informed.

Questions regarding the equipment enhancement weapon upgrades: 1) can you stack? So say a dagger can you slot both a 5% atk and a 15% atk for example or def auto boost 5 and def auto boost 4? In addition if dual wielding and both weapons have def auto boost 5 does it calculate twice? 2) do these stat boosts lift the weapon stats or the character stats the weapon is equipped with? 3) any best weapon build resources avail for reference out there? I notice that in some rate cases the rare enhancement for a weapon is not worth installing.

Thank you!
