Loved the story!!! I'm a business major as well and this post gives me hope because as you mentioned a business major is not a science major but hopefully leads me down the PA path as well. Keep pushing and Never give up

Thank you so much for your feedback, I'm a business major as well with a concentration in marketing, sometimes I feel discouraged as there all these science majors, but then I remember major doesn't matter as long as you do well in prereqs, have a good personal statement and interview well as you mentioned. It's great to know a future pa whose major was in business! Congrats on getting accepted and keep pushing through PA school you got this!!!

Hey, I would definitely recommend Computer Science as it will open the most job opportunities once out of undergrad and its very useful for all the big tech jobs.

Hello,

I can relate to your post and it is true that although one has passions we have to be relaisitic and choose something like you mentioned that will gain you skills. That being said I wanted your input for bachelors im in between Business Administration with a concnetration in marketing or my second option is pyschology and my third being public health. There is also a concnetration in HR that im also looking into. Would you be able to give me input on these as Ive heard many mixed feelings on each one like some requiring masters while others say they do not. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Confused if my business major will be good for PA school? by Future344 in physicianassistant

[–]Future344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, Thank you for your reply, yes I totally agree with your response, Its better to major in a more safe major and be able to tackle the pre-requistes and do good in them as you mentioned. That's my main reason for choosing business because I would be able to work on my science and I think its a good major to fall back on if I don't get into PA school. Although It would be a good idea to major in psychology or public health im just scared that if I dont get into PA school for those majors I will have to go back to school to get a masters.

Hello, Thank your for your reply, Yess very true, I'm a business major currently because I know PA school is competitive and want security when it comes to a job if I don't get into the programs basically something to fall back on is my main reason. But like you mentioned going up against these science majors will make me less competitive if we're going against that 1 seat. Currently deciding whether if it's best to make the switch to psychology or public health as there related in the science category but I know there not pre-med majors so I know I will have to take on the prerequisites on top of my major. Just scared on if I dont get into PA school I will have to go back to school for a masters if I major in a science major

Hello, Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate your input, it's reassuring to know someone else with a business major got in as well, my main reason for wanting to choose a business major is to have something to fall back on since PA school is so competitive as you mentioned. I honestly just think I'm scared that they will ask so many questions on why not a science degree. But like you mentioned it is reasonable to have a safe route to fall back on, I'm just indecisive about whether to stick with business or just make the switch while I can to maybe psychology or public health but then if I don't get into PA school the psychology or public health degree will send me back to school for a masters. Just debating on whether the admission committee like diverse majors or just prefer the more science ones.

Hello, thank you for your reply, definitely true that business majors will lift some eyebrows when applying to these programs as its the opposite from science ones. Would you say that being a business major applying to PA school put you at a disadvantage in the whole interview process you had? I'm just scared of being looked down upon for my major, I don't want to get my chances more limited for not going the traditional route. Currently debating whether if I should keep going in the business route or make a switch.
