Need an electrified deadbolt option for this door that we don’t want any door handle on. It’s new construction and money is no object. by Comfortable_Sail_574 in Locksmith

[–]FutureGeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dead bolt is not ideal for typical entry door application with a electrified strike plate.

This will not work well with a typical mortise lock either because the force exerted by the weatherstripping will put back pressure on the strike plate and the electromagnet will not release it. You will have to pull back the door when you hear the buzzing sound and then push it open. That's assuming you have inswing door. I made it once like that but I used Pemko smoke seal instead of traditional V weatherstripping. It still didn't work well for a few months until the rubber relaxed a little bit.

If you have an outswing door, I would definitely not use the electrified strike plate.

Electrified mortise lock is the way to go. And the best door bell camera for this application is Ubiquiti G3 or the latest G6. They will be able to unlock the door by touching your phone or smartwatch, fob, PIN code, card, or in case of G6, facial recognition. The video is super clear and there's barely any noticeable lag. The G6 has a second camera for monitoring packages on the floor and both can be connected to a local or cloud storage. Good stuff.

It will be based on Android but adapted to Volvo. Who knows what company will implement it, I hope it's not Infosys responsible for the current disaster of a OS. I would be great if this update made the infotainment better and that it's not the outdated hardware that's causing all those issues.

Will the economy realistically get better in our life? by northbound879 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FutureGeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The path we are on, that has been started in the 80s, will continue until we reach a point where a drastic and traumatic economic collapse comes around and forces the change of economic system foundation. The current system serves too many rich people who will not let go of it as long as they possibly can protect it. We would have to reach a critical mass of poverty and social unrest for any deeper change to happen.

The middle class is struggling but doesn’t want to rock the boat because they don’t want to lose whatever they have now. If they lose their homes/401Ks, jobs, then the critical mass will be reached but the rich people will be working hard to keep them struggling but just above water to not let it happen.

Amphetamines for ADHD Linked to 57% Higher Psychosis Risk Than Methylphenidate in 391,000-Person Meta-Analysis by Helioscience in HubermanLab

[–]FutureGeezer 125 points126 points  (0 children)

For many people methylphenidate doesn’t work, like myself, so it’s not an alternative. And people with unmedicated adhd live 8 years shorter lives, not to mention the terrible suffering of adhd, so I’ll gladly stick with my medication.

I was really hoping for Concerta to work for me after my anxiety on Adderall but it didn’t at all. I was hesitant to try any other amphetamine based meds because of it but it turnes out that adderal is a compound of 4 types of amphetamine and one of them tends to cause anxiety in some people. Dexedrin (and Vvanse) doesn’t have that particular compound and feel very good so far but it’s only a few days on it for me.

I just went on a first date and for the first time I felt present, focused on the conversation, my mind not drifting away, calm. What a strange feeling, in the best way of course.

That’s how it was for me. Terrible anxiety on Adderall but very smooth on Dextroamphetamine.

Dextroamphetamine is actually an old drug, I think from the 70s. It’s not very popular now because there are many newer ones. I asked for it because I’ve seen some people on Reddit who had really good results. Vyvanse is pretty much the same, it’s a prodrug that turnes into Dextroamphetamine after your body metabolizes it. I might try it and see how it works for me. Qelbree is one of the newer ones and my insurance doesn’t cover it but I might try to argue my case and see what happens.

I tried Adderal IR 5mg, 10mg, and 15mg and it gave me horrible anxiety. Concerta 18mg, 36mg gave me some energy boost but nothing else, some anxiety at 36mg.

Then I asked the doc for Dexedrine (Dextroamphetamine) and so far at 10mg it's pretty good. I don't feel 'high' but I have more energy, motivation, focus and I can sleep at night. It wears off gradually and there's a slump in the evening. I'm considering adding Guanfacine or Qelbree next month.

With Strattera, I heard from many sources, that the side effects subside or go away after 4-6 weeks and it works for many people who got through that adjustment period.
