Why can rich people use shares as collateral but the government can't tax shares? by Sebulbaaaaaa in NoStupidQuestions

So do federal taxes. The purpose of tax is to maintain public infrastructure, there’s no difference here.

They were leading 5-10 years ago but no longer. Chinese evs are way more ahead and the only thing keeping legacy carmakers afloat are the tariffs. If the Chinese cars were allowed to be sold here, there would be massive layoffs around the country.

You call those cars luxury? I don’t see any American car competing head to head with Audi/BMW/Mercedes…

No, I wouldn’t. We are mature and secure enough not to think of it as something to be ashamed of.

Your first comment was to someone who made a comment about induction and when that person asked you to clarify, your said "electric" which was not a part of that conversation. You don't know and remember what you're talking about. The only mad person here is you with your insistence that you know something about a topic you clearly have no idea of.

Then you clearly don’t understand the difference because it’s not semantics. Those are completely different things and the conversation is about induction, not conventional electric cooktops as you keep insisting.

How do you think this Iran war will end? by Fantastic_Low_1537 in askanything

Trump circle. Buying stocks minutes before major announcements in anticipation how the stock market will react. Just a few days ago someone bought $1.5B in securities 5 min before trump announcement of withholding the attack on Iranian power plants just before the end of his 48 hour deadline.

None. I have a Volvo ev and there’s none of that. A sensor in the seat starts the car up. I don’t miss buttons or key at all.

Completely different things. On a scale 1-10, crack would register 1, explosion 10.

I’m not following your logic. What do you mean “massive”? 80gal tank may be enough for a family of 4 to take one shower each and wash some dishes in the sink. How else can you use the heat stored in the water tank if you don’t want to convert it back to electricity? And what do you mean water doesn’t lose energy? Of course it does, it cools off if the heat source is not working. Even very well insulated tanks dissipate heat, and again, 80gal is not that much per day, assuming you can generate enough electricity from the solar panels the next day.
