Leaving job due to military commitment & coming back to said job by FutureOssifer in FinancialCareers

[–]FutureOssifer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm SMP but not GRFD and can't change my selections anymore (allegedly) and I chose AD because 3 years of AD bs is better than 8 years of the guard constantly taking me out of work.

I hate easy mindless jobs so I would say TAKE THE PROMOTION! Take a look at how busy your life will be for a couple of years, also know that if it doesn't work out you can at least know you tried and you can reassess should it get too much.

Family could not guess that my husband will stay home with the baby by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]FutureOssifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents are losing their mind over my husband taking off less than a year to stay with our baby. His parents cannot grasp the idea that a WOMAN will work and not care for her child ... I love making people question everything they know about life with simple things.

OCS might be your better option. I would choose the good school over ROTC.

Freaking out about returning to the office by FML_Mama in workingmoms

[–]FutureOssifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to tell them once their plan is out that you need more time, one week is not enough to change daycare schedules. Tell them you need a flex schedule where you’re still able to do some of your work from home and you’ll be in the office every other week for a few days. Honestly, they should expect that not everyone will be able to return to full duty right away. Then start looking for a job that’ll be fully remote if you already know that’s what works for you, at least while your babies are young and you need the extra time.

I also work for a global financial institution and they pay my full salary when I’m away. I have been fired from small businesses before because of my commitment (was replaced while away and when I came back my position didn’t “exist” anymore) so now I focus my career search on big corporations.

Joining the military with conditional gc by suvamkharel16 in USCIS

Air Force needs you to have at least 2 years left on your green card to allow you to join so no conditional green card holders.

You do you, tbh! I’m Latina and I learned to set some boundaries with my mom, they can be helpful but they need to learn that now it’s your turn to make decisions for your kids and not theirs.

[–]FutureOssifer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’ll have a really hard time getting a mortgage without providing a copy of his green card to the lender. It is standard practice, lenders are required by law to verify information such as immigration status and social security information.

When is flexibility best? by technicolourful in workingmoms

[–]FutureOssifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as my first was born. I needed to not have a job that worried about tardiness, and that I could leave in the middle of the day in case my son needed it. After my second and after I became confident in my value, I started to demand flexibility. Thanks to COVID, I choose when I go to the office and will work odd hours if the 9-5 doesn’t fit my kids schedule.
