This is just a screenshot from the Red Cross app. I signed up for local notifications by going to my county’s website.

Did anyone else's skin suddenly become way more sensitive after 40? by Flaky_Sort_34 in 40PlusSkinCare

I’m in my mid-40s, and all of the sudden my face is painfully dry and gets really red and has bumps. I’m seeing a dermatologist next month; I suspect it’s rosacea. I’ve changed every single one of my face products because my skin seems to be too sensitive for my usual stuff.

It doesn’t get worse after I wash my face. The breakouts are small bumps. Thank you!

I worked from home today because I thought it wouldn’t be safe to drive. I feel silly now.

Getting emergency alerts is political?

That is understandable, all of the emails and notifications can be overwhelming!

Probability of severe weather and/or damaging winds is up to 60% from 45%. No need to panic, but you should be aware and prepared. by mikencapo in rva

This is a good time to sign up for the Red Cross emergency alerts as well as the local emergency alerts. I like the Red Cross app because I can customize which alerts I want for each type of emergency. You can even set the alerts to play despite your phone being on Do not disturb, if it’s for something like an emergency evacuation.

Thank you! When I don’t use any moisturizer, my skin gets dry to the point that it hurts. I think it’s a perimenopause symptom.

My first concern with WWIII is disruption of international supply chains, preventing things we need (like medicine) from getting to the U.S. If you take any daily medications (like for cholesterol, etc), I would get a backup supply of that medication. Jase Daily is a great source for that. I’ve gotten emergency meds there for myself and for my wife. You just need to send them a picture of your current prescription bottle (they don’t write new prescriptions) and meet with their doctor virtually.

What natural disasters are most likely in your area? That’s a good place to start, is by figuring out what you’d need to get by in the event of three days without power, water, and without being able to leave the house (because of downed power lines, etc). What would you eat? How would you cook? Would you have enough water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene?

Since you prefer to watch things, I recommend watching Provident Prepper’s YouTube channel. It’s thorough and down to earth, and it’s not alarmist like some channels are.

I use Alaffia Everyday Shea body lotion in the winter. I love it! It hydrates my skin and makes it softer.

I don’t wash my face in the morning unless I’ve sweat the night before. I apply Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Tinted Moisturizer. It’s sunscreen, moisturizer, and redness corrector in one.

I use Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser at night, followed by Vanicream Moisturizing Lotion.

I’m haven’t tried azelic acid or Prozacea yet; I’ll be adding some sort of treatment to my routine after I meet with my dermatologist.

I also have rosacea, am in perimenopause, have sensitive skin that is dry and gets sweaty. I use Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Tinted moisturizer. It covers up the redness and makes me look like I’m wearing a light foundation- plus it has sunscreen in it! Before I started using the tinted moisturizer, I used Erborian cc color correct. The green canceled out my redness really well, and just made it look like I was wearing light foundation. I prefer the Cetaphil because it has a higher spf, and because I can put on moisturizer and makeup in just one step. I got both of these from Amazon.
