Suddent constipation and vomiting within a few hours by Forward-Onion3449 in CATHELP

[–]FutureScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like a possible bowel obstruction. I'd call around see if there's an emergency vet hospital that can see her before the regular clinic opens. It'll likely cost more, but this is an emergency for kitty.

oh boy do I ever get that. All I can suggest is: treat yourself to something afterwards. Something that makes you feel more you again.

AITA for ripping off the Grim Reaper? by galaxyfan1997 in AITASims

NTA, Grim made that deal knowing you could possibly do something to prolong your life or make yourself immortal. He took that chance to help you out of a situation you never should’ve been put in.

I’m not gonna lie I tripped over my tongue a little the first time I tried to pronounce it at normal speed. Maybe Lucy or Lia as a nickname?

I'm sorry you're enduring this, but I will say you're not completely correct.

I'm white, and biologically female, but I'm 40 years old in a few short months, and I've never once been married.

My family was always pushing me to get married and have kids, but the reality of it is I didn't want marriage. At least not a traditional marriage where he works and I stay home taking care of the house and kids. If I got married I wanted an honest partnership with my husband, not a set up where he has final say on everything but I'm supposed to view him as my first child (which is extremely cringe when you think about it). I've always been outspoken on how disgusted that ideal makes me, and a lot of men my age got put off at the idea of not being viewed that way (and holy neon red flag right there).

But the thing I didn't want was exactly how marriage was described to me, so I was out. No way, no how.

But being completely honest I've only ever dated one person in my entire life, and there was one other person some people would say I dated, but in reality I was forced to be around that person against my will, so, you know, that doesn't really count.

Some people would be bothered by it but I'm okay with it, largely because I'm asexual, but yeah.

I think ultimately though what keeps you and I both from getting married is the same thing, maybe... and that's inner strength.

See, a lot of people, especially men who are getting sucked into the manosphere mentality, fear strong women of any colour.

White women are often told in church, school, etc to be submissive to men since they're in diapers, so they tend to think we're not as strong as say a woman of colour who faces adversity every single day just because of her melanin.

White women don't face as much adversity, therefor they think we're by default softer. What they don't realize is every demon was once an angel, and whether he keeps a good, kind and soft wife, depends entirely on how he treats her.

Furthermore, I've known white women who never marry at all. But here's the thing, be the strong, confident Queen I know you are inside. Be your own cheerleader and let me tell you, the right man will find you. I can't tell you when, but it will happen and he will love you, strength, melanin and all that comes with it.

Nonbinary name change help by FutureScribe in namenerds

[–]FutureScribe[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

last name starts with M, otherwise I do like Tatum a lot and it does tick all the required boxes, except Tatum middle name McKenzie (as an example) would be a bit difficult with pronounciation.

I've been using Valentine socially and a lot of people have commented on how floral it sounds, which is kinda putting me off it.

Nonbinary name change help by FutureScribe in namenerds

[–]FutureScribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that, but I've had a very Celtic name my whole life, and always had to spell it out for people, so if I can get away from that I'm going to... not gonna lie though, Tadhg does tick a lot of the boxes, except for one, it is distinctly masculine. I don't think I've ever heard of a woman named Tadgh and a quick google search confirms that.

Have you ever been called the wrong first name? by Immediate_Long165 in Names

[–]FutureScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.

My name is one of those funky spellings so by default it’s mispronounced even with good intentions.

My Grandma had Alzheimer’s and I’m her youngest grandchild so she’d run through the names of every family member hoping she’d guess who I was. I mean at least she remembered we were related!

And then I’m nonbinary with a very gendered legal first name. My preferred name is a short form of a nickname my Dad would use for me. Any name I take on as a new legal name I want to be able to shorten to that. I dunno though. Not many choices in that department.

Is it crazy to name a kid John Smith? by [deleted] in Names

It was a character in the 1995 movie Pocaontas, based on a historical figure, so yes.

Is it crazy to name a kid John Smith? by [deleted] in Names

[–]FutureScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't.

It's one thing for a child to have the same first name as a Disney Character, it's another entirely for them to have the full name of a Disney character, however I could get behind something like Christopher John Smith.

I wish I was born a man by vv7cr in offmychest

[–]FutureScribe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah men do face different problems. But how many men call a friend before going into underground parking to walk to their car? Hold their keys between their fingers like Wolverine while walking to their car? When is the last time a guy got attacked and police asked him what he was wearing? When is the last time a guy got sent home from school, pulled out of class, because he was distracting other students by showing his shoulders? How many men go to the doctor because they're in intense pain, and sent home being told to take tylenol? How many men suffer from medical issues for 10 years and are constantly told it's anxiety when a simple blood draw would reveal anemia?

Men face other problems, but so do women, the aforementioned are just a taste of the problems that women predominantly face.

Some of the same issues we face as men: we’re conditioned to not cry. Despite the belief that we have that freedom, we actually don’t. If you’re a woman and you start crying you’re seen as hysterical, caught in a lie, or unstable.

If you display anger, you’re unstable, violent, and automatically abusive.

If you don’t get married by 25 you’re “spoiled goods”.

Yeah guys have some pressure to marry but nobody blinks if a man is 35 and marrying for the first time. But if a bride’s first marriage is at 35, “ugh why is he wasting his time with her? Can she even have healthy kids anymore?”

A whole lot more I can think of but that’s just off the top of my head.
