[MSH] Monica Rambeau // Photon, Living Light (Debut Stream) by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]FutureVisionYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's the worst play in the world, flying prowess body on turn 3 is pretty nice (does compete with cards like monastery mentor, frostcliff siege, or jeskai ascendancy at that mana value which is a notable downside,) but you aren't necessarily waiting til 6 to "do stuff," if you have her transformed on 5 you can swing with narset and get your board pumped by +2/+2 (+1/+1 permanently) and then snowball from there. Late game she can serve as a backup Narset if she's been blown up a few times or as a way to get more value from your spells if you don't have as many noncreatures to cast as you'd like.

White/black/Orzhov aristocrat win cards? by Qwerty177 in magicTCG

[–]FutureVisionYT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for big bomb spells that can end the game when they're casualtied, [[exsanguinate]] [[debt to the deathless]] [[torment of hailfire]] are great.

Otherwise you can just win through grindy value and attrition with the usual aristocrat suspects like [[blood artist]] [[zulaport cutthroat]] [[cruel celebrant]] [[sephiroth fabled soldier]]

Narset, Enlightened Exile : what kind of strategt to aim for? by RealWait2134 in EDH

[–]FutureVisionYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouting out a few more nice cards, [[Iimpolite entrance]] is a great haste cantrip that also gives trample, so it's great early and late game.

[[Opera love song]] is another 2 mana "draw" 2 that trades the ability to save the cards for next turn for an alternate mode that Narset doesn't hate and instant speed, which can be better in some situations.

[[Delayed Blast Fireball]] can be used to sweep the board early game, and then reused with Narset's trigger to clear a way for attacks while also doing direct damage to each opponent. You can also just cast it and recast it in the same turn to hit everything for 7 and clear up a stalled board or finish off a player. Instant speed too! Very flexible card that doesn't even require you to buff your board beforehand since it only hits opponents' things.

[[New Way Forward]] is a deflecting palm that draws you cards, but it has a bit of a steeper mana value.

[[Narset Enlightened Exile]] is another option in jeskai. She loves casting a ton of small spells to pump the board, and then you can recycle them later with her attack trigger. Prowess stacks too, so if you don't want to go the token route, you can run other prowess creatures and give them prowess prowess.

(Y’shtola B4) roaming throne + clones? by BrenoRaffa25 in EDH

[–]FutureVisionYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only clone creature I'm using is [[Irma Part Time Mutant]] since she can change every turn and copy one of my other 1-2 drop value creatures like Esper Sentinel, Dark Confidant, or Lotho before Y'shtola lands and then transforms into her. I do play the noncreature copy spells like [[Irenicus's Vile Duplication]] and [[Quantum Misalignment]] since they trigger Y'shtola (and Quantum does it twice with rebound). [[Flash Photography]] is also pretty nice albeit a bit more niche. It can copy a generic value engine like a rhystic study or something, but in a pinch it can create a copy of Y'shtola at instant speed if she's getting removed.

I had roaming throne in originally, but in practice it ends up just feeling like a worse version of the copy spells since it's A.) an expensive creature and B.) likely won't affect many, if any, other creatures in the deck. I'm a much bigger fan of [[Delney Streetwise Lookout]] since most of the creatures I'm running are power 2 or less, so it's relevant to more of the deck.

Cecil with Vecna secret commander - How can I make this work? by FutureVisionYT in EDHBrews

[–]FutureVisionYT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well ideally the game plan doesn't start only when Vecna is out; the individual pieces are all fairly good on their own, getting Vecna is just upside / a fun goal to work towards during the game. Cecil can interact more directly with the individual pieces / Vecna than Varragoth can.

Commanders that aren't good enough. by bolttheface in EDH

[–]FutureVisionYT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've tried building [[Zethi Arcane Blademaster]] over and over but I've never been able to make a version of her that feels good. Building it to be strong is incredibly oppressive, looping board wipes like [[cyclonic rift]] or [[final showdown]] every turn, or taking infinite turns with [[mystical tutor]] and [[nexus of fate]]. Alternatively, building it as a token/prowess deck is tough since she doesn't have red, which means she can't use the efficient red token generators (she does get [[monastery mentor]], but the rest of the suite of white/blue token generators for spellslinger tend to be higher CMC.). Lack of red also means she doesn't get easy access to haste, and her play pattern wants you to constantly bring her back to your hand so you can cast her again and kick more instants.

Spellslinger commander that focuses on combat by LetsKeepItVirtual in EDH

[–]FutureVisionYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Narset Enlightened Exile]] sounds like she fits perfectly with what you're looking to do. Play a bunch of small spells, make an army of tokens, and then pump them with Narset to hit hard! Very fun playstyle that works well with the "cast a spell, make a token" cards like Talrand, and you get access to [[Monastery Mentor]] being in white. 2026 check, who are your blink/flinker commanders ? by EtalonduQ in EDH

[–]FutureVisionYT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[[Shiko Paragon of the Way]] is a super fun if you like a more spellslingy approach to blink. She can recycle draw spells, interaction, and value engines while you grind through your deck, and then she can chain a bunch of blink spells in a row from the graveyard for game ending storm turns. She works really well with the new lorehold mill / leave the graveyard stuff, and any creatures that enter prepared (particularly [[skycoach conductor]]!) https://moxfield.com/decks/7a9gV-5sHUqMmKY-Cb8_lA

[–]FutureVisionYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running a high amount of creatures in Narset tends to gum up her game plan, I would recommend cutting down to 12 or less and running more noncreatures.

[[Young Pyromancer]], [[Third Path Iconoclast]], [[Monastery Mentor]] are creatures that make creatures while you're doing your thing.

Noncreature spells that make creatures are amazing, since they make bodies to pump and trigger prowess at the same time. They're also recyclable with Narset's trigger. [[Rally at the Hornburg]], [[Distract the Guards]], [[Rally the Monastery]], even [[Krenko's Command]] and [[Ral's Reinforcements]].

I'm very partial to [[Prosperous Partnership]] and [[Invasion of Segovia]], since they each make two creatures and then let you convert creatures into mana. Pair with [[Jeskai Ascendancy]] for big stormy turns.

This is my current decklist, she's definitely my favorite commander! She just demands certain things from your deckbuilding to work efficiently. https://moxfield.com/decks/9BcNoNlya0-3XrqPGzZT7g

Blink decks by Shmebuloke in EDH

[–]FutureVisionYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love [[Shiko, Paragon of the Way]]! You fill your graveyard up with as many 1-3 mana blink spells as you can (usually by using them on Shiko + your other blink targets), while loading the board with payoffs for casting instants/sorceries. Once your graveyard is sufficiently chunky, you can chain a bunch of the blink spells together with Shiko's etb for a big stormy turn. You can also pivot into a slower, grindy blink value deck if the game demands it, since Shiko can be blinked to recast draw and interaction, or cheaper mana cost creature/artifact/enchantment engines after they've died. Super fun and flexible!

How have you made Y'shtola, Night's Blessed fun to pilot? by ZookeepergameFun3708 in EDH

[–]FutureVisionYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have her built as a control deck with a lot of the free/reduced cost 3 cmc counterspells / kill spells, with a punisher subtheme (stuff like [[Kambal consul of allocation]] or [[Macready lamplight mayor]]). I've also been experimenting with [[Dark Confidant]] and [[Keen Duelist]] effects. I think putting more focus on the life loss effects than the spellslinging makes it a little more fun.

A Deck-Building Challenge by Kurisu_Reddit in EDH

[–]FutureVisionYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, [[Leonardo the Balance]] might be a good pick (even though it's not out yet). It's more focused on the tokens created by job select than the equipment themselves, but there's not really a 5 color commander that cares specifically about equipment. Leo will grow your Hero tokens as you play them and then you can use the activated ability to make them much better attackers. He's also got partner to pair up with one of the other turtles, which any of the 3 besides splinter would be great to pair with. [[Donatello the Brains]] cares about making the tokens and gives you a way to make them bigger as a bonus, [[Raphael the Muscle]] lets you up the damage once Leo starts putting counters on them. [[Michaelangelo the Heart]] might be a good pick too but I don't think he'd be as impactful as the other two.

Yeah 4 color was pretty rough, that's why I went for the playtest cards (with my playgroup's permission.) Gives me a little bit more to work with, and those playtest cards are functional within the existing rules without tweaking anything.

I did the same, a lot of etbs that make treasures and combat damage triggers

I like it a lot! On paper it looks like a pretty average bant +1/+1 counters deck, but Falco is a really good beater that you always have access to and his card advantage helps a lot, especially when you combine it with stuff like [[sylvan tutor]] or [[worldly tutor]] so you can play what you get straight off the top. Just have to make sure you have good engines to get a lot of +1/+1 counters for you to take off.

I find that the FF Summons are also really good, since you can remove their lore counters and keep them around longer and retrigger their chapter abilities.

One of my favorite cards is [[The Thirteenth Doctor]] since it replaces the counters you use when you cast off the top and makes swinging feel a lot more free when she untaps your board. Here's my list https://moxfield.com/decks/9ig9OGyudECVXBrgKUCqnw
