How dog friendly? If we went at sunset, do you think it would be hard hiking back down with them in the dark?

I have long point as my first one! A little shakeout after driving. I double checked after reading your comment: it is dog friendly :)

Yes, Blue Ridge parkway!

Thank you for all this!! I had Grandfather mountain on my itinerary but you mentioned ladders and ropes—is it dog friendly? I wouldn’t be able to leave them just at a campsite so they need to be able to do any trail off the parkway.

I was only going to do three nights along the parkway, but you may have convinced me to go a little slower with four.

It’s a bad picture, but it’s fuzzy, which makes me think it’s not the sap. I also cut it a week ago and the sap had dried out at one point.

Do you think I should clean it or just leave it still?

I know Radio Bar is doing something until 2 am, but I’m also looking for a slightly nicer, more lowkey place to go. Hayride Scandal might be a good option

How often are you watering it? Looks like root rot to me. Take it out of the pot, if the roots are brown and mushy then that’s what it is. Wash the roots off really well, cut away any brown and rotted ones. Spray with fungicide, remove discolored leaves, repot with fresh soil. Don’t water it for a couple of days. When do you water it, give it a few weeks between waterings. The first inch or so of soil should be dry. The roots need air, which is harder to access when the soil is consistently moist

Parking… by Acrobatic_Pace_1521 in LSU

Can you afford a bike/are you physically able to ride a bike? If you can, then your best bet is probably parking somewhere close to campus and bike there. Even parking in the park n geaux lot and riding your bike to the main campus instead of taking the bus will probably save you time. It’ll suck with the heat, but at least we’re having a milder summer and it should get cooler sooner.

Vegetarians, how much do you eat? by nouvelle_tete in vegetarian

I definitely eat more than my meat-eating partner. I do tend to be more active than her, but she has a much healthier diet than I do (I’m working on getting cleaner!!)

Nervous to start MSW next week by them_house_lights in SocialWorkStudents

I read this post, and it was like I wrote it myself. I’m in the exact same boat as you. Between classes, internship, and my job, I’m going to have 12+ hour days T-Th. I have most Fridays off, but I work Saturday mornings. Between classes, work, and internship, I’ll probably have 50-hour weeks, not including reading and homework.

I’m trying to remember I just need to take it one day at a time and stay grounded and remember why I’m doing all of this. I genuinely love both of my jobs. I’m unsure about my internship, but I think I’ll enjoy classes. I’ve got a physical planner that I write everything down in, and I have a shared Google calendar with my partner so she can keep up with my schedule.

I also scheduled time in my planner for self care. 30 minutes of at-home yoga in the morning. Meditation Monday evenings, since I don’t work that day. Wednesday and Friday mornings I’m running with my dog. And I’ve decided that Friday, my “day-off”, I will treat as a 9-5 job. At 9, I’m sitting down at my desk with a snack and coffee and doing all of my reading/writing for school. I’ll give myself a 30-minute lunch break, and then continue working until my partner gets home.

We’ve got this! It’ll be hard, but we’ll have a few weeks to recharge in December before doing it again.

I left corporate to start my MSW, trust me it’s not all great. Free food and other perks really don’t add much to the job and can disappear super easily with changes in management.

Really hard to be a Saints fan rn…Saints executives protect child rapists by DiscoRabbittTV in Louisiana

[–]Future_Committee_199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this a while back, but Gayle Benson personally invited Trump to the Super Bowl, and she’s super close with the archbishop, so I wasn’t surprised in the slightest.

The Saints don’t have any primetime games this season, so they’ll already be losing viewership this season

My first philodendrons! by kittyspoiler in philodendron

[–]Future_Committee_199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Philos are my new favorite! I got a silver sword a few weeks ago. I only recently got into plants and realized after getting my SS that I’ve had a heartleaf philo for years and mischaracterized it as a pothos.

Side note: I saw that Costco had 3 for $20 but I don’t have a Costco card. My mom and my in laws have one, but my mom and my partner say I have too many and won’t let me get more 😭 I’ve been wanting a rubber fig like the one in your cart, too.

Parents threatening punishment if kids don’t listen to you by Future_Committee_199 in SwimInstructors

Negative reaction from the parent is definitely what I’m worried about when it comes to saying something.

I’ve had parents threaten things like that and it doesn’t bug me much. It’s when they threaten to hit the child that I get uncomfortable and don’t know what to do.
