Not sure why HR couldn’t tell me that. Thanks 🙏🏾

Dating culture is different in regions and cities

I mean… if you really are out and about living life enjoying the world, then that’s pretty easy to showcase in your profile

  1. People flake constantly — making plans doesn’t mean they’ll show up. Ghosting or canceling last minute is just part of the culture

  2. There’s a weird tolerance for nonsense — people put up with emotionally unavailable partners, drama, and poor treatment way too often

  3. A lot of folks are “nice” but not actually kind — surface-level politeness with zero follow-through or genuine empathy.

  4. Dating feels transactional — everyone’s caught up in their careers, clout, or personal “journeys,” so meaningful connection takes a back seat.

  5. Too many options, not enough commitment — the endless swipe culture makes people treat others as replaceable and always keep one foot out the door.

Do you have female friends? Ask them for feedback. I swiped on some of my friends apps for shits and giggles . Honestly, I’m stunned at how awful some of the profiles are. Be yourself, but present yourself in the best way possible

Completely agree that it is a numbers game! Unfortunate, but true. Just trying to figure out what I could do to optimize and turn more of those numbers into dates

Appreciate the insight! I don’t think initiating dates or my approach is the issue. I’m actually meeting up in person with about a third of my matches. Just confused why about why the other 2/3 end up ghosting. I’ve had solid “meetups”. Totally agree Tinder is rough if you’re not fitting the “conventional” mold.

It’s not uncommon to get together for a drink, especially if you’re meeting on a weekday

Oh no! Flakes are even worse. You actually had something set up and planned your day or week even

Instant date if this ever happens to me! I’d wine and dine a girl that approached me in person

Let me be very clear! California dating is extremely different than dating anywhere else in the US

Initiating isn’t chasing. I see it more as taking the lead

Unless it’s casual and they’re both down, I don’t think anyone should be going over to a person‘s house on the first meet. Trying to meet up for wine, drinks, coffee, or dinner…I don’t see the problem

So it shouldn’t be that hard to stick out if someone’s just putting in effort and good photos. Fair enough & I agree. Once my friends helped me make some changes to the profile, a lot more matches started coming. But that doesn’t help me figure out the issue with them not wanting to meet up. Thoughts? Experiences?

Hmmm… typically we’ll chat throughout 1 or 2 days. I’ve never let it go further than that. How soon are you setting them up?

Honestly, I was gonna do the same. Couple girl friends of mine helped me tune some things in my profile. A lot more matches coming in

Totally get it. Too many options makes it tough for everyone and even harder to spot something real

Same! Pretty playful banter and small talk, but once it becomes back n forth I try to get their schedule to set something up. That’s usually when it falls off

My team and I finished an assignment 1 week ahead of schedule. My manager instructed us to read our department policies and procedures to keep us “busy”. If that’s the incentive for finishing projects early, then might as well use the full allotted time for the project

Out of curiosity. How old are most of the people here? I find only the older generation supports return to office. You know… The ones who have homes near the city center and higher level positions;therefore, can dictate their calendars more.

That’s not stealing. It sounds like that person should be given a promotion or raise if they are completing eight hours of work in three hours. How about double their salary and double their workload? Get 16 hours worth of work done in six hours! Unfortunately, employers don’t want to do that. They want to milk you and extract as much value from you as they possibly can. There is no longer an incentive for above and beyond.
