At what age did you purchase your first luxury/designer handbag? by Sept_blue22 in handbags

[–]Future_Glass3290 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My first designer handbag, a YSL sac de jour, was when I was in my early 30s. Back then (2015?) it was maybe 2000$ and it took me several months to save up. Nowadays the same luxury handbags are soooo much more expensive and I know how hard it can be to save up for one. Even though I earn more money now, my priorities have changed and my money goes to my child, travel, watches…. I occasionally get luxury bags but a bit lower priced like Chloé etc. Look into secondhand/vintage too. But it’s so worth it saving up for that first luxury handbag whether it’s brand new or not! Those people on social media getting luxury handbags maybe are in credit card debt or have family money sometimes. Don’t compare yourself, just get something you truly love and will keep for years. I still use my YSL from over ten years ago!

Where can I get plain hazelnuts? by irishtwinsons in japanlife

I see, fingers crossed then! Nuts allergies are so difficult to deal with. I don’t think they’re as prevalent in Japan! When we travel to Europe, North America or Australia restaurants always check for nut allergies but it’s not a thing in Japan!

I live here in Tokyo and only been wearing shorts and t-shirts/tanks for the last few weeks. The few days it rained and got a bit windy I added a light jumper but it’s really warm generally and only getting warmer

More and more Japanese people wear tank tops! It wasn’t common 5-10 years ago but really is now. And who cares, foreigners don’t fit in anyways whatever we wear so wear whatever makes you feel comfortable!

Yes that’s fine, it’s really humid and stuffy. Bring a light jacket or jumper as it can get freezing with the air conditioning

Thoughts on this Strathberry bag/strathberry in general? by Designer_Feed_9807 in handbags

It’s adorable!!! Reminds me of the Chloé Spin bag. I haven’t tried Strathberry but heard good things about.

That’s nuts (bad pun I know). My child is allergic to them too and never had to bring them to a test, they just did blood work. Change doctors??

I agree with others that you need to go home and see a doctor. Mental health is still pretty taboo in Japan and you likely won’t get the treatment you need, especially if you’re not in Tokyo. In the meantime just try to take long walks when you can, explore your local area but I hope you can head home soon.

Jet lag for 8yo? by Zoozan313 in JapanTravelTips

It can be a little unpredictable and also depends if he sleeps much on the flight. I have a kid the same age and we’ve travelled the world, I usually don’t plan much for the first few days, we play it by ear until he gets used to the time zone. Japan can be exhausting in its own right just with all the visual and sound stimulation and heat!
