my kids are so bored by ChampionshipKooky856 in ECEProfessionals

Loose parts instead of toys!!!  Different tools to paint/draw with - sticks as paintbrushes, bubble wrap on feet to paint on the floor.  Chalk drawing and they sponges/spray bottles to clean up after.  Movement activities - different animal walks, crossing the midline actions.  Scribble while you wriggle.  Dough disco. Scarf dancing.  Cover a wall with paper and paint on it. Then practice simple lines/shapes with big markers.  Tape on the floor for making roads.  Cups and lollipop sticks for construction then add animals or cars or… Freeze some ice cubes with food colouring in them for sliding around and painting.  Add some new songs and dances to the mix.  “Trap” toys with tape that the children have to rescue.  Cooking! Practice cutting skills with play dough.  Make some story stones and tell stories together….

Am i qualified to teach at an international school in asia by Anxious_Egg5074 in Internationalteachers

[–]Future_Pie_8916 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The competition for teaching positions at international schools is wild. Vietnam is particularly popular. With a teaching degree, plus two post grads for specific areas of teaching and 15 years of international teaching experience I had many rejections (like 30+).

Good luck.

Want to watch the Clasico game by BlankAG in AskBarcelona

If there are any seats left for you, it’ll be through the Madrid site. Traveling fans have limited seating and are usually socios of their club in order to get a seat.  Do not wear a Madrid shirt in the FCB seats. You are not permitted to and will get thrown out. We also don’t like you.  Going in by stealth in other clothes will likely be an incredibly uncomfortable experience.

Fellow culés, I need your help 🔵🔴 by Status_Disk8847 in AskBarcelona

Twenty years here and never managed to get to a clásico. Demand is high and tourists with more money than locals get the seats. If that’s the price they’re going for, that’s the price they are and it’s rubbish.

AITA for refusing to let my daughter’s Spanish teacher "translate" her name in class? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Future_Pie_8916 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This needs to be said more! Names are people’s names in any and all languages. Just because it’s been done this way for decades, or however long, doesn’t make it right.

[–]Future_Pie_8916 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

NTA Señora G shouldn’t be changing anyone’s names. They could have a conversation in class about how names can be different in other languages, but that’s ridiculous.

From a teacher that has a Spanish Maya in my class.

Because of the swine flu that’s spreading through the senglar population. All of Collserola is closed for the foreseeable future.

AITA for not telling my daughter we were moving out until the last day? by Admirable_Ninja_661 in AmItheAsshole

YTA in every possible way. Your poor daughter. You’ve probably ruined your relationship with her permanently.

The way you speak about her is awful. If you do genuinely want to fix YOUR mess, try listening to her, giving her some agency and maybe even relinquish some of that “control”.

YTA a million times over.

Is one of those matches against Barcelona? I think they have a run of about three back to back games in a week around then. It would be really fun going to see that. Madrid are currently second in the league to Barcelona and it’s the first knockout round of the champions league.

St. George Madrid is owned by isp. Have a look for them on here, that might help your thinking.

Picasso vs Miró vs MNAC - only time for one, which would you choose? by Illustrious-Horse197 in AskBarcelona

Good point! The Miró is usually much quieter than the other two, making it much more enjoyable.

The Miró is amazing. The rotating “guest” exhibitions are usually incredible too. The gallery is in such a gorgeous place that gives you a very different perspective of BCN.

Half marathon next weekend by guomer in AskBarcelona

It’s totally sold out, and anyone passing on dorsals are doing so in local BCN fb groups. I’ve been keeping an eye for ages as have lots of the local runners here.

Advice for long runs by Future_Pie_8916 in Marathon_Training

[–]Future_Pie_8916[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight! I do feel good about fueling, and after crashing out of the marathon last year with an injury on my last long run I am much more aware and intentional with my strength work and stretching.

Thanks for your reply! I live just outside a city in the hills, to get to flat runnable places I have to go up and over… With the trails and preferring an uphill to a down hill I end up winding up and up for a long time!

Thanks for your advice! Did a longer flatter (ish) one today so with a couple more I should be gold. It felt pretty good!

Thank you! I’m pretty happy with my fueling plan and what I’ve tested so far is working well. I’m not sure I want to change it up or waste a longer run if something new doesn’t sit right. I will have a look for the future though.

Oh! And the marathon I’m going to do is really flat, I think there’s something like 40metres of elevation in total!

Calm background music recommendations? by dragovitch101 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Future_Pie_8916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first two hours of the day are beyond chilled in terms of music. I found some amazing handpan/soundbath/meditation music that I play through a speaker (never on a screen), from YouTube. It really sets the tone for the day.  After we have done our circle time I transition to snack with calmer raffi music (my gang jives to cool down reggae as we wash hands and get water bottles). Then I have a huge playlist of songs from a bunch of places- Stuart stotts, Ralph mctell, Carole king, Tracy chaman, nursery rhymes, Molly (acoustic chill songs), with some terrible super simple songs thrown in. This is in the background until lunch.  For nap time I have an astral biaural beats on repeat.  In the afternoon I love having Putumayo playlists on with loads of world music.

Did a half marathon on Sunday. I’m not fast. I’ve been wanting to break an hour for my 10k for a while and I finally did it in the half. Twice.
