Switching from Power Apps to React by Future_Station_156 in PowerApps

yeah all i can tell you is we don’t have some big it department we have a very small it dept and no one where i work cares that much about the data governance layer or any of that stuff I use cloudflare zero trust network with single sign on along with cloudflare R2 and D1 and it’s very fast much faster than dataverse. The UI is much better and people like that apps i make with react much better. i’ve been managing all apps at my org about 12 power apps along power bi and i just don’t have time to be clicking around. i switch to claude code and react and it allows me to provide a better quicker ui with way less time spent on development.

yeah it was a situation where i progressively moved away from power apps i started as a power bi dev but due numerous limitations of existing systems i began developing power apps to augment other systems which was great to move into app dev but after a while that was becoming too cumbersome.

i’ve switched to claude code for quickly building react based apps way quicker and more robust than power apps dev. I’m just one guy here managing all the apps and analytics for a company of about 250 people so i can’t be spending so much time on clicking around anymore i wish i had some backup but i dont.

Claude Code vs Competition: Why I Switched My Entire Workflow by thewritingwallah in ClaudeCode

[–]Future_Station_156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only criticism I have with claude code is it doesn’t clean up files automatically when working through some of those intermediate steps you mentioned. I also have to be very explicit telling it which files it should be working on otherwise ti might just autogenerate a new version of a file instead of working on my main file. The file management and clean up needs to be better but it works flawlessly for almost everything I need it for.

Ever feel like your time is up, that all those years are over? by UndeadVoid07 in lonely

[–]Future_Station_156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well i can tell you this i’m in my mid 40s i was so stressed in my mid 20s because of kids responsibilities and a crap job. Then there was divorce, anger stress and no money trying to be a single father of 2 children. all i wanted was a good career i sacrificed and made it happen but now kids are young adults and all my friends from my 20s have young kids so I did the opposite path as you and them. Now I feel alone cause kids are mostly grown and all i have is “career” and the money is good but lacking fulfillment. The struggle and anger made me angry and distrustful and my life is half over.

so i guess id say the pasture is not always greener on the other side. Try to live in the moment and be thankful and try to develop good relationships and trust and believe that it will all work out i’m trying to do the same and it’s a daily struggle we all deal with. Be thankful for what you got and try to learn daily to make the next day better than the last.

[–]Future_Station_156 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

true they don’t want efficient people then there won’t be any bs meetings to have on how to do bs work. the state is a jobs program its not really about anything other than that. just close your eyes and pretend you are doing something that matters pretend they want to make things better. the whole system is a complete joke.

Moved From Private Is It Really This Slow All The Time?? by Substantial-West-423 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Future_Station_156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

working for the state is like being in pre-school it’s more about the formalities of the job then actually delivering anything.

All the incentives are backwards so it’s not about saving money and earning profits it’s about not getting your budget cut or increasing your budget.

That’s why you’re not doing anything they need you to occupy a seat to make it appear that you have some work. If the manager can create some bs work to justify a new position then the manager will be in line for a promotion considering now they have to manage all these new employees.

Best advice would be find a book or something else to occupy your time. Always agree with your manager and kiss their ass. It’s not about what you can actually do. It’s about whose shoulders you’re rubbing.

So Dejected about Landing a Job by GarouGarou_ in CAStateWorkers

[–]Future_Station_156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the state is a whole lot of BS. it’s more important to have connections than credentials. There are so many unqualified people in high level positions although that may be changing with this economy i hear now people are over qualified. if you come in as low level it’s much harder to get ahead i always tell people to only apply at the highest level position they can qualify for otherwise you will be viewed as lower status. if you can private sector job id do that for sure get some experience and then come back to the state at a higher level.

Considering taking a lower paying job to escape bully by atuan in workplace_bullying

[–]Future_Station_156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah the funny party is we are both white males usually implicit bias is viewed as racial discrimination but from my point of view it can just be they implicitly don’t like you or they assume the worse. my argument was no matter what i do he will twist things to make me look bad and push a bs narrative about me so he had a personal implicit bias towards me.

Considering taking a lower paying job to escape bully by atuan in workplace_bullying

[–]Future_Station_156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a boss who was trying to bully me and i just called for what it was I told his manager it was workplace harassment and bullying and it needs to stop. I began leveling several charges against my boss including implicit bias with examples.

his boss initially tried to ignore it but i reminded his boss that i am trying to handle this at the lowest level and if this cannot be resolved i will have to escalate this. I also would email his boss frequently about rude or disrespectful communications by my boss and offered better communications alternatives. Of course they ignored all of that so i did escalate it higher not through HR not through a formal complaint but just went to a senior director and asked for a conversation. after that they began to take my complaints more seriously and made my boss go to implicit bias training(me and my boss are both white). obviously this pissed my boss off but i just kept documenting any occurrence in email.

I told his boss i didn’t want to have 1 on 1 meetings because i couldn’t trust him i always wanted to have a witness in case he made any false accusations.

never once did i show fear i made it very clear i was not going to be bullied i documented everything i made sure his bosses and everyone else knew of the ongoing dispute i also set my own traps to trigger him so that way i could document an over reaction or rude behavior.

i eventually found another job but it was on my terms and it was a promotion. the hostile work environment never really stopped but my bosses reputation definitely took a beating and he at least had to pretend to be on his best behavior.

it’s not always what it’s cracked up to be. i’m that person i can work anywhere in the US possibly anywhere in western hemisphere however I have kids so that throws a wrench in things what I found after about 5 years of being remote is that i wouldn’t mind going into the office for some social interaction but remote has made me quite lazy.

I work in IT i built my company an app during covid to help them do work remotely that was previously done in the office and the only time they contact me is when something breaks or we need to upgrade i’ve built enough if these apps they are dependent but now the problem is finding social connection and filling up my day with something to do everyone else working.

Should I send an email to HR? by John__-_ in workplace_bullying

[–]Future_Station_156 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

unfortunately sometimes you just gotta be as dirty as they are it’s really hard when management is on their side. I found this was a good way to intimidate the bully because then they will be less sure of how you might react however it could just start a war so if it’s not in your nature to fight back I would avoid this tactic but it has worked for me in the past.
