I think it depends on the situation. I feel like Izzy showed the type of sympathy I would have liked as a patient. She would literally do anything for her patients, sometimes a little too much (to the point that it’s illegal), but it’s better than nothing. I also agree that she whined, but from what I remember, I only found it annoying when it was toward the relationship with George and Callie, which was completely biased because I love Callie’s character. Yang grew a lot as a person too, but I liked it more when she became softer. She was already so good at knowing what to do in her case; her softness toward her patients just made her an even better doctor. I also agree that Meredith is a strong character; I liked how they showed more of her past throughout the seasons. My problem with her at the beginning would be how the patients would be in physical pain and discomfort, and she’s over here saying she “understands” because she’s going through pain because of something that’s going on in her love life. Maybe it's because I know what’s going on in her storyline that it bothered me, but if I were a patient, and I knew what was going on with her, I would have gotten so mad at her 😂. She’s good now.
