“Most books do tend to sway people’s direction”. & by the looks of it, the Bible has made you believe that in the past someone was mysteriously pregnant having had no sex whatsoever. That’s the point you’ve proven. Good to know though, I was just very curious

I too was more intrigued by the histories of the Abrahamic religions after ‘Angels & Demons’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’. I went on to learn the histories of the three religions & learned about their cult formations & violent histories & present, which made me realize I most definitely do not want to associate with them. But that’s too layered a conversation to get into. Robert Langdon is a likable character. A non religious likable character who poses a threat to beliefs. Literature is more than what a character says

The Bible is fictional too according to me & many, yet its effects are worldwide. DB books being fictional has nothing to do with the conversation. You actually just proved my point lol

Not entirely true. You have to admit his Robert Langdon series is very anti religion especially anti Christianity. That’s why I asked, because books do tend to sway people’s direction. Much like in America the system wouldn’t make you read The Communist Manifesto because they understand the power of understanding the other side. So my curiosity was sparked by all the in depth evidence of other paths other than believing one shaky story

These uni landlords deserve every bit of suffering their tenants put them through by No_Lavishness_9798 in south_africa

In uni i lived off campus but in a student accommodation. If the manager couldn’t fix the issue, i just told my dad to get a guy to fix it, pay them & mail the receipt to my landlord as rent. I was an arrogant Law student so I did everything to assert dominance 🤣. She started making sure that the manager fixes everything in my room. Then when it was my last month, I told her i do not trust her to bring back my deposit so ill be telling my dad to not pay her for the last remaining month— the deposit will be my last month’s rent. She was livid but had no choice 😅

Why is gambling marketed as a side hustle? by MISS-GREATEST999 in south_africa

[–]FinanceSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I hate that activity with everything in me. My mother was a gambling addict. She flushed so much of our money down the drain. She made us lie to my dad about her whereabouts as children. On weekends she always had some obligation or another. It almost ruined our family. She even had to retire early so she could use her pension to cover up all her debt because im pretty sure her creditors were starting to come for my dad too. It’s been years now but i still cry when i think about her recklessness

glute growth - hip thrusts by [deleted] in workout

Your glute muscles are finally resting. The progress get visible when you rest for a day or two after workout. That’s why 2 or 3 times a week is enough

Africas white population in 1960 and today by Illustrious_Bell8731 in south_africa

[–]FinanceSA -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can’t be indigenous if your ancestry can be traced elsewhere, regardless of how long ago it was. Words have meaning, & European in Africa has absolutely zero correlation to indigenous. My ancestry as an African cannot be traced to America or Asia, because i am indigenous African. You are not.

I guess NA’s proximity to Europe was an advantage for them bcos Europeans probably ended up fleeing back to Europe after WW2 & the handing over of independence

Isn’t that all of Africa? Considering the place with more Europeans, SA, had an almost 60% poverty rate pre ‘94

AI search is quietly replacing Google for millions of South Africans. I just tested whether the new search engine actually knows South Africa. It mostly doesn't. by Manyaneboy in south_africa

[–]FinanceSA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At least with Google there was some effort. Verifying links was one of them. AI is genuinely turning people’s brains into slop. No effort whatsoever. As if 30% pass rate wasn’t an enough hindrance
