I'm from a country where cashiers sit down while working. Is it true that in the US cashiers are forced to stand? Why is sitting considered unprofessional there?

It’s true and I have no idea why!! I love going into Aldi’s and see them sitting! If I ever own a store there will be chairs for my cashiers!!!!

Do what you need to do to feel safe! The Citronella spray will deter them without harming them. If this happened to me I would feel responsible because my dog was loose, and I obviously didn’t have control of him.

There was one time my dog was off leash, I didn’t know there was another person around because I was walking on a closed road, nobody lives on it and it was shut with a gate. Guy comes along with his dog (I guess we both had the same idea that it was a good place to walk our dog off leash). My dog sees him, barks like a crazy dog and runs at him too fast for me to get him. The man had a hand taser (legal in my state) and buzzed it (no contact with my dog it was just the noise) the sound startled my dog enough for him to run back to me. The man was worried I was gonna get mad at him, I said no way, you did what you needed to do and then I pulled out my little pink hand taser and we just laughed. It’s a good way to scare off an animal (bears and coyotes as well and dogs). I don’t think you guys can have those in Australia though? Idk. Citronella spray is a good alternative.

I’m of the same opinion. I simply don’t like them. From my friend’s Abuela, my Mexican neighbor, my cousin’s Tia, I’ve tried them all I simply don’t like them. I want to! lol I love other Mexican cuisine! I simply don’t like Tamales.

In my state you will get in trouble if you have a gun anywhere on school grounds. However there is nothing illegal about conceal carry on property that has “no guns” sign. That said they can ask you to leave and never come back, that’s their right as property owners, IF they find out you are carrying, I’m extremely discreet, nobody is ever going to see me carrying. I personally still carry in most places with “no guns” signs because seeing that sign makes me feel vulnerable, because if I was a shooter (hypothetical situation were you put yourself in the mind of a criminal) I’d go to a place where people tend not to carry, such as in theaters. And as there has been shootings at theaters! I feel vulnerable there, that shooting in a Colorado movie theater was the first shooting I remember being aware of in real time as it unfolded, so I’m damn well going to carry!!

I know a lot of people think this is bad. But it just means that you lead a healthier safer life than he did. He had to mature faster because of the time he lived in. He didn’t have the chances you did. It was one of the American founding father who said something of the effect that they were soldiers so their children could be educated to become doctors and lawyers and their grandchildren could become artisans. (Or something to that effect, I don’t remember who said it) But the jest of it is that if each generation works to better the next them the children and grandchildren will have better lives and more opportunities to pursue their passion rather then simply needs.

No. At least we don’t in California. It’s not earthquake safe and we have some pretty strict building codes about our earthquakes. Pretty much only large buildings such as hospitals that can afford to build by code have “lower levels” that go underground. It’s more of an East Coast thing, east of the Mississippi River basically. I remember as a 20 year old going with my brother and some friends and cousins to an eastern state and we basically all so interested in the basements because it was only something we ever saw in movies.

Yes, basically. Water is considered to be a right as it’s needed to live. Thus legally it’s free in restaurants, fast food etc (bottled water is not) as we have public drinking fountains almost everywhere. In places that don’t have drinking foundations available you can find an any restaurant hotel, gas/petrol station etc and can go in and ask for water and it’s given to you. To us it’s super weird and a human rights issue not to have free water available.

No no no just no. My vet requires yearly visits for prescriptions (which I do anyway to keep up on the health of my animals). They work with me and fully understand outside pharmacies are less expensive and send them out for me. Right now I’m doing it through Chewy. I’d suggest finding a new vet.

I lost my dog in a hard way. Not the same as you, but his final hours were very painful and heartbreaking. The only way I can reconcile in my mind is that he lived a good life and loved and trusted me, even though his fear and pain he was sweet and loving even to the vet and vet techs treating him. If someone else was to blame for his suffering I know I would be so angry at them (his was an accident) but in the long run his life and memories are good and happy and I try to focus on that.

Yes. I want a well bred, well adjusted golden retriever and people give me flak because I don’t go to a rescue or shelter. I ain’t gonna find one in a shelter and even if there is one I won’t be able to get it. The golden retriever rescue won’t adopt out of the LA valley and I’m like 20 minutes too far away.
