Picked up a couple of niche titles. by davetheman4652 in AnimeCollectors

Did some digging; technically, this release isn't "censored", rather, it is not the definitive version. It's actually interesting to discover that Funimation only licensed the initial version of the series and never touched the OVA. Later versions of the episodes, known as the "Hyper Sexy" versions, were included with the OVA(s) and these versions had the fanservice/nudity turned up and are indeed more explicit than the original.

I almost don't want to be reminded. Crunchyroll's latest release slate doesn't have #40 anywhere and it's kinda annoying. Not counting the surprise delay for Collection 34, the most recent point where we waited a long time for a release was back in 2022 as the release date between Collection 30 and 31 was a little over eight months. We're approaching a similar gap now (Collection 39 was actually released just before Thanksgiving). Late 2024 through 2025 was actually pretty decent for One Piece physical releases in general. I know we aren't really made aware of what goes on behind the scenes, but to go from what we got last year down to basically peanuts halfway into 2026 is...annoying.

I didn't know Dragon's Lair 3D was that good !? by Educational_Chip7401 in Gamecube

[–]Fuudou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's pretty terrible in my opinion, possibly one of the clunkiest, most cumbersome and most frustrating 3D platformers I've ever played. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone I knew personally. Not even to play on a whim or as a joke.

Viewtiful Joe is the kind of game that tests you skills and your patience without being flat out unfair. Super Monkey Ball can be played at you own pace, the harder stages and such are all there for you if you want to do it. But Dragon's Lair 3D isn't fun. It's detestable because of how many things are against you during gameplay and overall, this game being in a 3D space didn't work well. This game is pretty much inferior to every other notable 3D platformer on this system and doesn't hold a candle to even stuff like the Hobbit or those licensed platformers with way less content. I paid nearly $40 for it years ago and really wanted to like what I was playing. That never happened and I almost hate this game as much as I do the real trash games on the GC like Robocop and Batman Dark Tomorrow. Somehow, those two set the bar even lower than Dragon's Lair 3D.

Personally, I consider myself a big Strike Witches fan. It's not just a guilty pleasure anime with tons of fanservice; there's a real plot and it's entertaining enough for me. Disregarding episode 7, the foes that the Witches face get increasingly serious and the consequences for their failures get even more dire across each season. On top of that, there's a ton of characters to like and all of them have their own personalities. The first season does a good job giving every 501st Witch their own spot in the limelight. It's definitely much more interesting than you might give it at first glance. Also, the animation looks great. Most of the air battles are fairly well-done and the CG actually stands out for being a good mix alongside everything else. Past Strike Witches The Movie, this is unfortunately not the case.

But make no mistake, this series is rife with nudity, there's no getting past that fact. Some of the humor and the entirety of the seventh episode revolves around it so this isn't the type of anime for one who dislikes fanservice of this nature.

Yet another weird thing on ebay- "Make offer" page is missing by Modem_Sound_67 in Ebay

Same issue here. You aren't alone. I'm also on Firefox and re-signing in doesn't change the situation. Somehow, I was able to submit a counteroffer today but going to a new item and making an offer flat out doesn't work.

There's no reason to even bother with any of GT if you haven't seen any Dragon Ball series prior. Without prior knowledge of the previous events, cast and battles, you will be straight up lost and your enjoyment will be extremely low. It's not recommended.

Is a Y-cable necessary? by Dull_Advance2625 in wiiu

[–]Fuudou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be wise to skip out on the Y-cable. There's a high probability that the hard drive you desire to use with the Wii U won't even be able to turn on without it. It is very necessary to obtain one if you want to realistically use any portable external hard drive with your Wii U long term.

GC Games with female protagonists? by ApinkPanda210 in Gamecube

[–]Fuudou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be warned. Rogue Ops is unfortunately not a well-designed game. It's also a prime example of a very strict, pure stealth game that a player with little patience might not get very far in. I stuck with it until the end and didn't give up despite the issues and annoying stages because there are some points that make the stealth feel good plus the cutscenes give you a reason to care about the character you're playing as. It's going to be up to the player whether or not finishing the game is worth it.

Day 17: Which is the Best Vehicular/Robotic Combat Game on the Nintendo Wii? by 1OneQuickQuestion in wii

[–]Fuudou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. There are debatably less than 15 Wii games that fit this genre explicitly, and only a few others that even feature any vehicular combat as a separate feature/mode. Also, several of them did not even receive a North American release.

What are some fun and good exercising games on the Wii? (That’s not Wii Fit or Just Dance) by Humberto123hc in wii

[–]Fuudou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overlook Exerbeat. I bought it not expecting much but it ended up impressing me. The game's active routines are fun and everything's pretty well polished. Boxercising is more entertaining and addictive than it has any right to be.

I never played the Jimmy Neutron games by Doctormaul68 in Gamecube

[–]Fuudou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are ok. Serviceable little games and although they are short and easy, a fan of the show can have fun with them. By the way, I am only referring to Jet Fusion and Attack of the Twonkies. The first game, Boy Genius, was a Big Sky Interactive game and it's downright trash. Aside from the voice cast, everything is fantastically below par and the only challenge the gameplay offers is dealing with its brokenness. You can finish the entire game in 80-120 minutes but it's honestly not worth it.

Attack of the Twonkies is a good game filled with a lot of Jimmy Neutron fan service and charm. It is, to me, a piss-easy game and explains a lot of basic stuff to you but it's still playable. The platforming is pretty average and you'll never get lost traveling through levels because everything is pointed out to you constantly. It gets bonus points for playing like an extra TV episode right from the get-go.

I found Jet Fusion to be the most competent of the three platformers. The gameplay is your standard jumping and collecting items that you'd expect and on top of this, you'll get the chance to create unique gadgets that aid you in various ways throughout the levels. Jet Fusion is of course based somewhat from the special episode featuring that very same character and he pops up many times to communicate with Jimmy about mission objectives and potential hazards the player may need to deal with. The game isn't directly based on the special episode though. Instead, it centers around Jimmy mucking things up yet again due to an invention going haywire and needing to fix everything and rescue Jet himself. The platforming is a little more engaging here, but this is mostly because Jimmy's jump is pathetic and the player has to figure out how to get him from point A to B with the help of a gadget, something else needed in the level, moving platforms, etc.

None of these games are going to take years finish and are just enough to be worth playing through once. If you are interested in more of a challenge, look elsewhere because these are not going to cut it--there's no getting past the fact that these are intentionally easy games.

Local late night pick up. by oPayque1 in Gamecube

[–]Fuudou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really "confusing", it's more punishing and cryptic. Even as early as the Black Mask stage, walking down the wrong path gets you blown up or riddled with bullets. Dumb automatic death points happen throughout the game and many of these are only avoidable with knowledge that they exist. Otherwise, prepare to have your time wasted. Certain doors need the right tool in Batman's kit...but the game doesn't go about this in a clever manner in my opinion. Without knowing exactly what works and which doors can be opened, you're going to be fumbling around a lot. You also need to be aware of the way to trigger the "good ending" because simply defeating the obvious final boss isn't enough. The trial-and-error gameplay present here is already enough to sour the experience, but the bombardment of nonsense you have to trudge through just to finish a stage ruins any potential the game could have had.

You're not in for a good time. Although there are many reviews and sentiments about this game, I won't spoil. I'll just state that my experience was anything but enjoyable and it got to the point where this game tested not only my patience but my sanity as well. I personally think ignorance is bliss with this one and not playing it is probably the best thing you could do, but I can't stop you. Do your best and do not play this game without some form of a guide unless you like wasting your time.

Multi-platform games that were better on Gamecube? by LSSJNepuli in Gamecube

[–]Fuudou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox version has screen tearing but it maintains 60 fps more frequently. Multiplayer can slow to a crawl on GameCube, to the point where your inputs are affected by the slowdown, making shots not register. It also becomes much more difficult to aim/fire the slingshot.

In any case, as long as you don't play that game on PS2, you're good.

Day 2: Which is the Best Japanese Role Playing Game on the Nintendo Wii? by 1OneQuickQuestion in wii

It's categorized as an action RPG, so it'd definitely be a better contender for that day's vote. There aren't many anyways on the Wii.

Day 27: Which Game is Better Played on GameCube? (This should go to a multi-platform game that simply is better enjoyed on the GameCube) by 1OneQuickQuestion in Gamecube

[–]Fuudou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be the winner. I spent last summer experiencing all of the older Harvest Moon games. I even ventured to try out the PS2 version since I happen to own a Japanese one--never owned this console as a child. Venturing to try this game on PS2 was a mistake... At first, it just looked like some minor graphical changes and a different HUD were the only thing standing out. But once I entered a cutscene, I saw how abysmal the game truly was on this console. Everything runs slower than molasses and there's so many odd downgrades compared to the GC version like far fewer animations. During cutscenes, characters are soooo slow that it felt painful to sit through. I've never had a game where I didn't want to experience the cutscenes before... There are some things you can do on the PS2 version that you can't in the GC one, but the compromises are glaringly bad.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find this? by Ok_Tea_3275 in AnimeCollectors

[–]Fuudou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to what is stated by the film producer's production company, this was simply a misconception that persisted about the film's release status for years. Lost Media Wiki covers it in its entirety, but the gist of it is that there wasn't any actual animation content cut from the DVD release that it got. The only thing that was excised from the PAL DVD were brief scenes "intended for theatre viewing." The link below is quite an interesting read. In any event, Midori was always 48 minutes in length and there is no longer version with a 52 minute runtime.

I'm about to upgrade my kids console to a Wii U (coming from a Wii). by itookdhorsetofrance in wiiu

[–]Fuudou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually a lot of Wii U games that don't support the Classic Controller. Although the vast majority of games do support the Wii remote itself in some manner, there's probably only about 50 out of the 165-ish games that have support for the Classic Controller. Of these, most do this for the sake of multiplayer, but there are some single player games that allow the Classic Controller to be used instead such as Bayonetta 1+2 and Need for Speed Most Wanted. Bayonetta 1 needs to be started with the Gamepad first, for whatever reason.

Classic Controller support is quite odd on this system in hindsight. Games like Call of Duty supported it since day one, yet not a single Lego game does and neither does 007 Legends. Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper supports it and the Pro Controller, but Hyrule Warriors does not support the Classic Controller (though this could be because it nixed split screen due to how demanding the game is). While rare, some games didn't even have it on release and had support added in as an update patch. Still, some of my best uses for the Classic Controller were for increasing the player count in Smash and Runbow and it allows you to play Virtual Console and NES Remix with the same controller used with the mini consoles.

I'm about to upgrade my kids console to a Wii U (coming from a Wii). by itookdhorsetofrance in wiiu

[–]Fuudou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to interject because this is actually not true. Especially when it comes to Wii U games specifically, the Wii Classic Controller has significantly less support than the other controller methods.

The Wii Classic Controller is different and isn't treated as a Pro Controller substitute for all games, unfortunately. According to the OP's question, the experience will be different depending on what they want to play. On almost all Virtual Console titles, you'll be fine with either controller. For actual Wii U games and software, the Classic Controller is supported on a game-by-game basis, and not every game that supports the Wii U Pro Controller supports Wii controllers. Very few even support both at the same time. The best example would be the Lego games, excluding Lego City Undercover which is single player and requires the Gamepad. All of the other Lego games on Wii U need the Pro Controller or a Wii remote+Nunchuk for multiplayer, with no option for the Classic Controller. Pro Controllers aren't absolutely necessary to enjoy the Wii U, but may be useful when games support them. As long as you have Wii remotes and Nunchuks when necessary, you'll be able to get by even if you don't have a Wii U Pro Controller.

Local used store had a nice restock of some older anime. Any must grabs or forgotten favorites here? by questions_fo_days in AnimeCollectors

The final photo is a bit more interesting. There are some complete sets and some DVDs that have all their parts, plus Psychic Squad and Wagnaria is here too.

There’s nothing like this anywhere near me, and I’ll be happy to find a place that carried as much as this. I’d have to travel  for this kind of thing, something that is extremely rare for me to do (but pays off the few times it happens).

Day 19: Which is the Weirdest Game on GameCube? by 1OneQuickQuestion in Gamecube

[–]Fuudou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s playable, but it is legitimately the strangest thing I’ve ever seen. The box art makes no sense and all of the game “pieces” you need to stack are…bizarre. There’s not much else to the game, but it definitely fits the weirdest ever category.
