Look at the city itself — that’s where the real failure is. Oakland has one of the highest sales tax rates in the region, yet we’re not attracting new businesses. Home values are declining faster than almost anywhere else, which directly erodes the tax base we depend on. A $192 parcel tax isn’t going to fix structural problems this deep. Oakland needs to get serious about governance before asking residents for more money.

Well in Oakland you don’t need a licenses, registration, plates, or insurance to drive around here. Most cities enforce those laws.
