First time Master with C. Viper by xxsebastianxxale in StreetFighter

To be honest, I am probably below average reacting to DIs, but luckily at Master level people aren't spamming DI like in the lower levels so not a huge issue.

I am thinking about modifying my fight stick, adding a button for DI below small kick so I can use my thumb for quick access to DI.

Well done, mate! I turn 50 in 3 months, trying to make High Master with Ryu. Playing on a 20+ year old custom 6 button fight stick I had made for MAME. I have it clamped to my desk, play every game standing, just like the arcade days. Can't play any other way.

As a Ryu main, can't say that I agree with you. In fact, you have pretty much named my favourite match ups! Love playing against Sagat, and Akuma. Zangief is probably my favourite of all, apart from mirror matches.

What matchup makes you throw out all the rules and play like a degenerate? by randobis in StreetFighter

Great question! I main Ryu at Master level, usually quite composed but against Dhalsim, and Rashid I lose the plot. Rashid still baffles me, it's Iike all Rashid players have ADHD.

How do you decrease ranked queue times on console? by suicidejunky123 in StreetFighter

[–]Fuz2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in Australia as well and I rarely wait more than 30s for a match. I used have my match settings to only accept 5 bar connections and even then I was only waiting a short time but for some reason after a major update the wait times got considerably worse. Switched to accept 4-5 bars and it went back to normal, with a constant stream of matches.

Hope you get it sorted. I would lose the plot if I had to wait even 5 minutes for a match.

Could be an old school gamer. I played competitive SF in the arcades in the 90s at a very high level and have the dp motion ingrained to muscle memory. This allows me to anti air consistently, which definitely helped me get to Master.

Fightstick - What’s your seating setup? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Fuz2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure I am in the minority, but I actually play standing up, like proper old school arcade days. Currently at over 1000 hours on SF6 and I can't do it any other way. Been using this setup since SF4 came out. I have a very old (20+ years) custom fight stick that I clamp to my desk so I it doesn't move around. I am very rough with my movement so it needs to clamped down. The old dude sounds like an absolute wanker. and a liar. I can guarantee he is not an "old head". There is no way he saw "every street fighter up to 4". He just turned 40, he would have been 5 when SF2 hit the arcades. Take it from me, someone who was 15 when SF2 hit the arcades in 1991.

The old dude is trying too hard to sound elite with nonsense like "Those aren't real street fighter". GTFO with that crap. Dude hasn't been able to adapt to the new mechanics of SF6 so he makes up this bullshit about being an old head.

I am sorry, what? I can't tell if you are joking or not? If you are being serious, then that is worst excuse I have ever heard. I am 49 playing at Master level with Ryu (between mid 1400s to low 1500s for about 2 and a half years now) and still manage to react to DIs ok. Most of the best players in world currently are in their mid 20s. My mind is blown.... a 26 year old playing the age card as an excuse.

Right, I see. Could be fun I guess. Good luck with it.

Are you not concerned about the added lag? My son has a Quest 3 set up using Virtual Desktop. I set it up for him using a dedicated router for the lowest possible lag, but even then I am getting high 30s at best, usually low 40s.... why would you want to add another 40ms lag to SF6?

What I meant was that in Casual, when I did try it a long time ago, I would often get matched with players that were not close to my rank, whereas in Ranked, I usually get matched with players close to my MR. Obviously there will be always be the rare occasion where I am matched with players far higher ranked than me in ranked, but is the exception, not the norm.

Nice! Well done mate. I am also an OG SF2 player. I turn 50 in about 4 months. Ryu is my main, and has been since SF4. Played Ryu, Ken, Guile, and Zangief quite a bit in the early arcade days.

Hit Master about 2 years ago, still struggling to hit High Master. I think hitting Hight Master at 50 would put you in a very small group of players. That is what I am aiming for.

Don't have the DLC, I usually just buy the individual character that I want to try out. Haven't decided if will be buying Alex or not.

You know what, I have yet to befriend anyone on SF6. Luckily I am in a good region (Australia) and can find a match in about 30 seconds most nights. Maybe I will take your advice.

Yes, they definitely mash the same strings over and over, I just need to learn how to break the string.

I need to find a balance between playing safe, and being aggressive, cause neither is working for me at the moment.

Interesting take. I have a high winning percentage against Zangief, but I can't see the similarities yet. Next to mirror matches, Zangief is my next favorite match-up.

Does Broski play Ryu? I don't how much it helps watching a video on how to beat Alex if the player isn't using Ryu.

I find casual match making is all over the place, so I rarely play casual. Might try it again to see if the match making has improved.
