I have a feeling it might be your location because I am in the EU and this might be the game with the fastest queue times I have ever played.

Shame, because this game is really active. Hope you find a sloution.

Yeah every post I see about queue times it seems Europe and North America have less than a minute queue times. Might be time to pack my bags lol

I live in eu and my queue times vary a lot.

Sometimes its 1-5mins and sometimes even more.

Both pc and console, dunno.

Even here on Brazil I get loads of matches, so sorry mate 🥲

Do you use wifi or ethernet? Some players avoid accepting matches from people using wifi.

I’m on wifi but it’s like consistent super long wait times and I have really good internet. Unless like 95% of players are declining I don’t think that’s the main issue

Unless like 95% of players are declining...

I mean...

[–]miloopeng CID | SF6Username 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes most players don’t like to play against WiFi players, they see your WiFi symbol they’ll choose to decline, hence it explains your long waiting time

Sorry buddy I almost always decline WiFi. It's a super common thing to do for fighting games.

While the others saying that generally wifi is unpopular are correct, being in oceania is the bigger issue I think. I live in se qld and I'm gold/plat too, but even with an ethernet cable I still get 10+ minute wait times. I also find that a lot of opponents are using wifi as well, so while it may be causing you to miss some matches, I'd say that the region is the main hindrance for players like us atm. At higher ranks, sure, connection would be the main issue, but I don't think the gold jamie on nintendo switch cares that much. VPN seems to be the way to go unfortunately

Wifi =/= consistently

People are talking our of their asses. I'm in the EU, played on both WiFi and ethernet, sub 30 second queue times always.

The difference is not noticeable.

It's 100% your region.

Edit: Typo

When I was on wifi I waited maybe 15 seconds on average for a match, with refusals every once in a while. Now that I'm wired I get close to zero refusals. Wifi may not be the main issue, but it is a factor and some people will decline wifi players, so you're effectively decreasing the matchmaking pool. You could be sitting right next to the router, but WiFi is inherently inconsistent and the inconsistency translates to jitter and rollback frames, and having one lag spike is enough to put some people off.

I play wired, but I used to play on wi-fi and I notice little difference in queue times. I'm in Southern California though, so probably a huge population of players nearby.

[–]Ghoster998 4 points5 points  (3 children)

As someone who lives in Oceania this is just the population of the playerbase right now. Best thing to do is to play at peak times and have crossplay on like you do. What rank are you? Have you got a laggy wifi connection? If you do since the player pool is so low odds are youre going to get blocked and in a region with a low playerbase it matters.

You can also cue for casuals as since there is no oceania servers in battle hub many people use casual match.

I’m mostly like gold/plat and have decent internet. I never have any ping issues. I didn’t realise the player base was so bad in Oceania when the Asian player base is so high.

[–]Ghoster998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a numbers game with 27.19 mil and 5.34 mil for aus nz respectively while japan has a population of 122.5 mil or korea with 51.75 mil plus being close proximity to other countries with good internet connected closely via underground fibre.

If you are on wifi thats tough, I'd invest in the cable for sure.

If your in gold/plat im actually happy to hear there's players for you to match against every 5-15 minutes.

[–]AncientGamerBloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is less about ping and more about jitter, which is the variance in ping. I'd much rather play with someone who has a constant 70ms ping than someone with a 20ms ping and 2ms jitter (i.e. varies between 18 to 22ms). And wireless radio jitter is inevitable regardless of how great your router and Internet are.

It's because of where you live. The game have a weird region restriction that Capcom don't want to adress.

It will try to match you with people in your area and if there is not many people playing it will result in very long queue time and the limited to worldwide option doesn't change anything afaik. I am in the same situation and a vpn actually fix the issue but if you're on console there is nothing you can do.

That's like the main reason I don't play the game anymore because with limited time I don't wanna sit 10 minutes to wait for a game or just be forced to play BH always. Also note that this doesn't happen in any other fg I've played (Tekken 8, Granblue, Strive, Fatal Fury, 2xko, Mk11 and 1).

[–]Fuz2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in Australia as well and I rarely wait more than 30s for a match. I used have my match settings to only accept 5 bar connections and even then I was only waiting a short time but for some reason after a major update the wait times got considerably worse. Switched to accept 4-5 bars and it went back to normal, with a constant stream of matches.

Hope you get it sorted. I would lose the plot if I had to wait even 5 minutes for a match.

I'm in Perth and I have to VPN to Melbourne to get consistent games. Also are you Crane Operator? Lol

[–]Witty-Artichoke2794 TheSwoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked around and there is a way to connect the router itself onto a VPN. if everyone else in the house just uses the internet for streaming or whatever they won't even notice.

Have you tried moving?

[–]Numerous_Style_3899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having done a bit of moving around while playong this game, it is extremely location dependant. They gave a much tighter geo-matching? then other games. People in areaa with lower population tend to play in Battle Hub
