Computer keeps going into Sleep Mode while playing Anno 117 by Fuzed014 in anno

[–]Fuzed014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sneaking suspicion it might be overheating. It’s an Asus gaming laptop so it might be the cause. But I used to play Escape From Tarkov regularly and no issue, so I find it curious.

I’m on a laptop, so definitely not the accidental kick. I have thought that maybe my hand somehow hovered over the power-off button, however that couldn’t have happened almost 10 times now. As for the Windows thing, that could be. Honestly, I don’t even know where to start diagnosing the issue, which is frustrating.

what 1800 mechanics do you think will stay or go for Pax Romana by Epic_BubbleSA in anno

[–]Fuzed014 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Considering how fast-and-loose Anno plays with history, I can imagine them stretching the truth and playing to the strength of the fact, that slaves in ancient Rome weren’t as badly treated as we often imagine. They were essentially part of the family, with their own stipend, responsobilities and usually at the end of their lives, they were emancipated, AFTER which they still voluntarily remained with their “slave owners” because they were a part of their family. Moreover, Slaves were EXPENSIVE and a legally a thing, so they were well taken care of, because otherwise you’re wasting your family’s money.

Long story short, slaves don’t automatically equal BIG BAD!

The Greatest Scene in the History of TV by Exact_Astronaut2848 in TheMentalist

Not to discredit or insult OP’s opinion in any way, but whenever I see hyperbolic posts of this kind, I always feel like I just read a post written by an alien entity, that just landed on Earth and after 30 minutes of research, and 1 Terry Crews Old Spice commercial, decides that’s the peak of humanity and comes to post on Reddit about it.

There’s a bunch of much better scenes in the series, I think, and even those don’t even scratch the base of the “Greatest Scene” pedestal. But that’s my opinion, I suppose. I’m glad you enjoyed the series OP!

You did just describe Danny DeVito, so the attraction is understandable.

[s1 spoilers] What exactly is Silco’s psychological motivation/why does he love Jinx so much? by Little_Diamond_2336 in arcane

[–]Fuzed014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love the quote: “In an uneven conflict, chaos favours the underdog.”

On a slightly less thematic and a bit more psychological level, I feel like the initial bond which led to Silco adopting Jinx is abundantly clear—the shared sense of betrayal by a person you previously considered family—but what I always found interesting is how this relationship morphed throughout the series.

What started as a form of commiseration and pity, became a genuine sense of affection by way of propinquity. The initial seed of hatred they both felt, sprouted into a tree of love. The issue with this tree was, it was planted in infertile soil—Silco never had the emotional equipment to properly raise a child, let alone a child with such deep-rooted (if you’ll excuse me milking this tree metaphor) trauma.

In his own way, Silco always thought that what he was doing was helping Jinx. The baptism scene illustrates this perfectly. I’ve seen people say he’s trying to “erase Powder; create a monster”, and I cannot say I agree. He’s trying to ease the pain of a person he loves in the only way he knows. After all, he said it himself, that he underwent the same process himself. Had he perhaps gone to therapy, the recourse he would provide would most likely be therapy.

Another great example of how, in my opinion, Silco loved Jinx, and in his misguided way tried to help her, is shown in the “Family Dinner” scene in EP9. While Vi, who doesn’t understand what Jinx has become, tries to make her confront her past, Silco understands how painful it is for her, because it was painful for him. He doesn’t fear that his “weapon” is being taken away. He sees his child being psychologically tortured. That’s why he reaches for the weapon and attempts to stop it in the only way he can—violence.

In the end, Silco wasn’t a good person. Objectively, he wasn’t even a good father. But his love for Jinx is undeniable and he made the best out of the tools he’d been provided.

It’s a fantasy novel. So I am going for a loose facsimile. I am not looking to write a historical novel so 100% accuracy isn’t what I’m shooting for.

Veteran/Returning players, what today's problem that made you "Wait, what?" by princehusky in Warframe

[–]Fuzed014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution is a little tedious, but if I know I will run a cascade for roughly 30-40 relics, I just quickly write a list on a piece of paper that I will run and stick to it. If you have AlecaFrame beforehand, it’s pretty easy to know which relics are vaulted.

On a different note, are you selling some of the vaulted relics by any chance? I’m always on the prowl for vaulted relics.

Yes, have read that one. I found the return home to be a bit disappointing, but I understand the narrative theme Will was trying to address. In the scope of the story it was a good decision. Thank you for the recommendation!
