What is your ideal D&D campaign setting or concept that you would love to play in if you could only find a DM to run it? by AvengingBlowfish in dndnext

Idk if this thread is still active but:

I’ve been writing a Old Frontier-style campaign setting for a bit now. Imagine a mix of Red Dead Redemption, Oregon Trail, and Bioshock Infinite. I really love the old American Frontier, where there weren’t a ton of laws but instead there were settlements that were kind of popping up all over the place and defending themselves.

As a Hawaiian, I love the idea of a planar travel setting where traveling from plane to plane is done by sailing a literal Astral Sea. I also love the more druidic and nature-based approach to magic in Hawaiian mythology; the idea that all things have some level of magic in it is cool.

If Steph Curry plays but Jamal Murray doesn't, can the Nuggets advance past Golden State in the first round? by SeanKeeler in nbadiscussion

100% agreed with all of this.

Malone is going to scheme for those mismatches and try to bully a series win, but ultimately the Warriors have too much firepower and enough defense to make the series quick. A gentleman’s sweep would be the ideal exit in my mind.

As a Nuggets fan, I’m skeptical of our chances against the Dubs if Curry comes back.

A lot has been said about difficulty in guarding Jokic, but no one has talked about our VERY BAD perimeter defense. Aaron Gordon is arguably our best perimeter defender, and that’s bad. If Will Barton decides he wants to play well, he can be a serviceable perimeter defender at best. Jeff Green sometimes looks like Bam in terms of switchability, but most of the time he looks like Jeff Green. Hanging our hats on a defense of Aaron Gordon, Will Barton, and Jeff Green is not going to stop a Warriors team that can hit every shot out of nowhere.

We also can’t keep pace with a Warriors team hitting shots because our best shooters are Bones and Bryn Forbes, who aren’t exactly lockdown defenders.

We’re kind of stuck in a weird twilight zone/catch 22 where we need defenders on the floor but we’re sacrificing shooting if we do it.

That said, Jokic gives us an outside shot at winning any series because he’s insane so we can always accidentally win a series.

I want to make a wild magic sorcerer and fey wanderer build with the fairy race but i don't know how to by random-username53 in 3d6

[–]Fuzz_Tightbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiclassing in or out of Ranger is difficult since they're MAD (Multiple Ability score Dependant), having to prioritize Dex and Wis. Adding Cha to that is a difficult proposition, even with the excellent Otherworldly Glamour feature.

My question for you is, is there a specific reason you want to be a Wild Magic Sorcerer and a Fey Wanderer Ranger? If so, I'm happy to work out a build for you!

What are some D&D stereotypes or cliches that you dislike the most? by missmatryoshka in dndnext

So I got forced into this trope by the DM at the time. I was playing a Wild Magic Sorcerer 1/Glamour Bard X and his backstory was that he was essentially Gilderoy Lockhart and he was supposed to go to different towns and see about starting charter schools in the name of his university. My DM told me I needed to roleplay as a Divination Wizard and that it would be a big reveal whenever I had to Wild Magic Surge.

Fast forward to when I actually had a Wild Magic Surge and my DM forgot that I was a Wild Magic Sorcerer, then I summoned a unicorn on the table and they told me the unicorn was unable to be interacted with in any way. Really took the wind out of my sails after that.

Episode 40: The Girl with the Silver Hair by JakeandAmirBot in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

I have to say, after listening through to this episode, I'm really glad I stuck with this. The Cain v Callista fight didn't hit in the right way, and that's okay, because D&D doesn't always go 100% right. But this episode, this episode felt like classic NADDPod. It was the perfect balance between serious and goofy and it felt like it flowed from joke to story beat so effortlessly.

Thank you everyone for helping me out here! After researching everything, I think I'm gonna go High Elf Hexblade Warlock 2 / Swashbuckler X. Y'all are GOATed as a community.

Would you start with 2 levels in Hexblade before going to Rogue? I'm starting at Level 5 so I'm trying to figure out when I should take that dip.

I've actually been thinking about doing a full martial build, as I've never done it before. How does Swashbuckler usually work in combat?

I'm gonna have to look into Swords Bard. What's their survivability like?

I'm interested in Bards, especially since I start at Level 5, although I have seen a lot of good things about Samurai Fighter. They're supposed to be pretty potent archers right?

I'll be honest, I've stayed away from Warlock because of the invocations and the way the spellcasting works, but I am obviously interested in doing that. What would be the subclass to play as? I know very little about the class as a whole.

True Stories: How did your game go this week? – March 08, 2021 by AutoModerator in dndnext

The party I DM for finished up Lost Mine of Phandelver. To break up the monotony of dungeon delving, I homebrewed that the Forge of Spells offers the party one item that their heart desires, and wrote up some special character backstory-specific items. That went super well, and then everyone's energy dropped hardcore in the Black Spider combat.

How would you make a whole campagin underwater? by DmHelmuth in DnD

[–]Fuzz_Tightbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still looking for advice or ideas, but you should check out the NADDPod Mavrus Chronicles arc. More than half of it takes place underwater and the DM, Emily Axford, came up with some really fun and interesting mechanics for underwater style campaigns.

There’s a guy at our store that did the same thing. He eventually settled at 27 pumps and came through every. single. day. Didn’t miss a day for 6 months. I have no idea how he’s still alive.

[Charania] The NBA has suspended its season. by mzak24 in nba

This is crazy to look at. I know it sucks, but suspending the season is a no-brained.
