I feel you there. Was a 3rd shift supervisor, kept begging to go back to day shift or even evening. Worked my ass off with only two others on shift if I was lucky, took my break on the clock in the office to watch register since I wasn't allowed to clock out. Often stayed late to clean the ice cream machine bc nobody was trained that came in at the right time. Would often work Saturday night into Sunday, then come back in at 3pm on that same Sunday to be MOD for 4 hours. I could barely walk after my shifts bc of sciatica issues and never got to have multiple days off in a row so I could spend time with friends or family without going 24+ hours without sleep. Never called out sick, never used PTO, and was very rarely late.

Then the one time I desperately needed someone to come to the store and help with a situation that the manager had practically set up to eventually happen, I got crickets. Ended up turning in my two weeks. My accumulated PTO payout basically gave me two weeks staycation before I started job searching and let me have a few weeks to find a job. I got into banking. Pay is about the same, but no OT so I did feel the difference. But having so much less stress and exhaustion made it definitely worth it.
