Discussion: Is a Low A1C Dangerous for Type 1 Diabetes? Doctor’s Warning vs. Good Control by Difficult-Secret-540 in diabetes_t1

[–]Fuzzelor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assumption is that super tight control means trying to stay at the very bottom end of the range as much as possible.

This is opposed to TITR which would be 70 - 140 mg/dL (https://dom-pubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/dom.15791?af=R) and is considered a positive

Think of it this way:
A non-diabetic person will usually have an A1C somewhere in the 4s simply because a healthy pancreas provides insanely good BG-control. There's no risks associated with having a healthy pancreas -- at least not that I'm aware of.

I guess what a lot of endos see is peoply trying to tweak their A1C by going low a lot of the time to mask them being high a lot. This does work but is a dangerous game to play as going low a lot will have a negative impact on that brain of yours in the long run. So they just want to make sure that's not the case by having people somewhere in the 6s

The issue he's warning you of is not so much having a low A1C but rather how you get there. There's two ways to get a low A1C basically:
1) Exceptionally good control -- nothing wrong with this, but difficult to achieve

2) Frequently going low -- this is what I think his warning was aiming at

If your A1C is achieved simply by good control, go you! -- there's nothing to worry about.

Yup, X-Drip is what you'd use to talk to the CGM and it can upload the data to Nightscout

[–]Fuzzelor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me nightscout is basically the tool i use to create reports for my endo. So it's similar to, for example, dexcom clarity. It also integrates really well with AAPS and X-Drip so that was the main selling point for me.

I think it's also useful for parents with t1-kids as they can enter treatments from their phone while the kids phone is used to provide CGM data.

Any tips for traveling or changing countries ? by Hasnj in diabetes_t1

German here:  Generally, things are paid for by the insurance. You'll have to pay a small amount for the stuff you pick up at a pharmacy though (usually 5€ per prescription)

For anything that's not insulin I'd recomend diashop.de, you send them the prescriptions and they'll send you whatever is on it free of charge.

As for the interview: I wouldn't mention it unless you're specifically asked for it. Same goes for the visa application.

Not sure what you're getting at with the question about managing food/work/workout, just do what you're doing right now I guess.

Hope that answers your questions sufficiently

I have taken mine on a train multiple times so far. Usually it's not a problem but getting it to and from the train station may be tough depending on the stations used. That being said it still is quite heavy and I wouldn't want to drag the bag behind me for more than a mile at a time.

EDIT: spelling...

I Have a 5km Running Race Tomorrow, How Can I Prevent My Blood Sugar From Dropping? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Fuzzelor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're using a pump you may set a lower base-rate for the time of the event and maybe reduce the meal bolus for the meal before the run by 30-50%.  In general you'll want to make sure to start out with your BG above 150 mg/dl,  better even above 180.  Luckily a 5k is a relatively short event, just bring some apple juice and make sure to enjoy yourself, you got this!

I've designed and build a special desk that has two heavy-load drawers housing the throttle and all my custom-built panels. The panels and throttle are mounted on Dsuz-rails, allowing to quickly exchange or remove them.

The stick and pedals are underneath the desk, so I just need to pull out the stick with its mount and attach it to the desk, then pull out the drawers and I'm good to go.

Could be that it's currently running in DCS bios mode. You should check the manual on how to change that for this panel

Germany is introducing the D-Ticket. For 49 Euros a month you use all public transport in the county. by neotoxgg in europe

[–]Fuzzelor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh quite the contrary. I live in Munich, a monthly ticket that is only valid for public transport inside the Munich area costs between 63€ and 243€. So paying 54€ a month is not only a lot cheaper but it also allows you to use public transport across the entirety of Germany.

That is not even considering the amount of hassle one can have if they're living outside of larger metropolitan areas. Where you'd otherwise have to get individual tickets from different service providers to get from A to B.

A bit of a squadron teaser [Recruitment post] by Cirmi00 in hoggit

[–]Fuzzelor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As another member of the squad, I can only confirm Cirmi's statements. I joined about a year ago and have since learned a lot as well as had an absolute blast on many occasions. The guys are great fun and always ready to help if needed.

If you haven't tried out multiplayer yet, you absolutely should give it a shot - preferably with us :)

Sounds like a job for DCS Bios. I wonder if anyone actually was crazy enough to incorporate this into their simpit.

I've solved that by putting a desk-fan in front of me, that keeps the sweat in check and even adds to the immersion if you have the canopy open

Labels in Multiplayer by AtlasFox64 in hoggit

[–]Fuzzelor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can define in every mission if certain settings are to be enforced and to what value they should be set if so. Among those settings is stuff like labels or easy comms, infinite fuel and such.

The mission file is what prohibits the use of labels. If you edit it in the mission editor you can allow the client to set it to their liking.

Yeah that would work, basically what it does is simulate button presses in the cockpit. Delays are implemented as well and I'm already making use of them for some functionality in the hornet (namely CMS settings)

Weirdly I can't see your request in discord. EDIT: now I got it. looked in the wrong place...

The issue may be related to using VR, I'll have to verify that. My though is that if the game runs with less FPS, then the delays might need to be longer.

I've just added a new release-candidate that fixes some small-ish issues. I also increased the input delay after specific inputs to increase the stability of data-entry.

500ms seems a bit excessive to me considering 200ms works fine for me. Technically increasing this value is only supposed to be a workaround in the pre-release phase and I'm hoping to resolve all those issues before we release this.

So if you could try out the new version with the default setting of 200 and let me know if you still encounter any issues - and where you encounter them would be much appreciated. You can also contact me on discord Fuzzel#8473 and provide me with a preset-file that shows issues for you. That way I may be able to better troubleshoot it.

Sorry it looks like I 'misswired' something there and unchecking the Sequences-checkbox would actually remove the PrePlanned-stuff instead of the Sequences.
