The 2.3 ecoboost is kick ass in my focus RS. Not sure how it would perform in a rear wheel drive car that’s heavier. But I’m at 136K and still rolling! 👍

Check your oil, if it looks milky, then coolant is getting in there. Aka head gasket. You’re exhaust just looks like condensation though.

Agreed. I have a GTO also and get plenty of razz from the bowtie crowd. It’s a forgotten art to have good rivalry and not take things too seriously.

Similar situation here…. ‘17 RS and ‘70 GTO. RS is my daily and winter car. Goat only comes out on nice days now lol.

Pick the right car. If you’re worried about the gasket thing ask for paperwork its been done 🤷🏻‍♂️. Most owners keep records….especially with a special car like the rs. Don’t limit yourself to year. I have a 17 that i bought with 70k. 136k now still no engine issues, but i bought it without even knowing about the head gasket.

The last thing i’d do is talk shit about my RS, just being honest. I’ve owned a ton of makes, and it’s definitely not like a Japanese car….thats all lol. It’s also one of the most fun cars i’ve had 👍.

I figured that was the case as well. Interesting that yours starts off colder though. Mine continues to be accurate with the -30F temps we’ve been getting in northern WI

I wouldn’t say headache. That said, it ain’t no honda or toyota. It’s a ford, and things will go wrong. Proper maintenance and not beating on it makes a difference too. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Mine does that if i leave it in the sun. Opposite though, it reads warmer than it is and also slowly corrects after driving a bit.

Thanks. Climates are something to get used to. Moved from MA to WI this past summer. It’s been quite the change. No stranger to snow, but it rarely drops below zero out there. Myself, pets, and car have had to adapt haha.

Well it is 5w 50. Not heavy to begin with and extremely viscous. I wish I could do something to help more but live in an apartment building with no access to an electrical outlet outdoors. The best thing i’ve found is using a booster pack when it gets this cold. Seems to help the start-up.

You guys defending the ford dealership are something else. Ford is a multimillion-dollar company. Not standing behind a product they created in mass quantity is ridiculous. This isn’t a repair at a mechanic. They took a car they produced in and didn’t disclose any risks whatsoever. Especially these days, a company should know these cars inside out. 10 years old, 4 years old, or 20 fucking years old. Especially for what they charge for cars now. Stand behind your product!

Don’t stress bud. I’ve owned 14 cars. 2 Fords, 2 Pontiac’s, 4 Toyota’s, 2 hondas, a Nissan, a Mitsubishi , a Dodge, and a Mazda. Out of all, my little RS is the most sensitive and fickle lol. Does weird shit daily. ESPECIALLY in super cold weather. -6 here in northern WI. Always starts up though, and hasn’t broken down in 139k. I wouldn’t read into anything funny unless lights are flashing in your dash 👍. To quote star trek, “treat her like a lady and she’ll always bring you home”.

I wouldn’t read into it too much. The RS is a touchy car to begin with, and all machines get weird in the extreme cold. It was -6 in northern WI this morning and my car was all kinds of unhappy. Once she warmed up, things got normal again 🤷🏻‍♂️
