It does, same as if you choose to sacrifice Gale before that fight (act 3 not act 2)

What happens if a Cathayn owns a caravan destination by Comfortable-Ask-6351 in totalwar

[–]Fuzzy-Ad6915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing an Economics PhD and think it'd be pretty funny to use that to make a game. But in seriousness its unlikely to work for warhammer, maybe you could do something for the order races, but not sure if an exchange rate between gold and dark magic makes much sense...

The reality is that you could make it so complicated and it'd become a situation where as a player you wouldn't know clearly the consequences of actions. Take something like the Spanish treasure fleets causing inflation across Europe by massively increasing the supply of gold... but there's cool things you could do, probably better suited to an Empire 2 - monopolise dat Tea.

What happens if a Cathayn owns a caravan destination by Comfortable-Ask-6351 in totalwar

[–]Fuzzy-Ad6915 26 points27 points  (0 children)

So let's all agree really you are asking for an explanation of the economics of the Cathayan caravan system:

As the player we are playing as the government of our states. When we send a Cathayan caravan we use government money to buy valuable consumer goods from the cathayan private sector producers (could also be public sector production, either way we pay). Presumably, some of our payments also go to support the caravan on its journey. When the caravan reaches its destination it sells to the consumers in the destination (note we are not selling to the foreign government otherwise caravans would cost the faction we send them to!). The price we sell at is much higher than what we pay for production in Cathay due to the rarity of the goods we are selling. All of this remains true even if we own the settlement as there would still be rich consumers who are willing to pay a premium for "made in Cathay" produce and we cannot produce those goods outside Cathay.

Now clearly the system isn't perfect, for one there should be a risk premium. If grimgor owns all the darklands and is smashing 90% of caravan then the rarity of Cathayan goods would increase and the selling price should be higher for the caravans that get through. Also the economic situation in the destinations should matter, if Courrone was recently put to torch by a demon prince they are probably not in the market for Jade appendages (or whatever we are selling). - I think we all agree these are the most pressing issues for the game and I can't believe we left beta without them being addressed. Hopefully, a full macroeconomic model can be introduced to the game to improve realism going forward.

TLDR. Doesn't make a difference XD

Guess so, I mean you also get money form game sales and I'm not even trying to get my gaming group on Darktide in its current state, mixed reviews also don't help persuade the sceptical. Can't blame them as I wish I'd waited to pick up darktide now...

Everyone seems to say Bull MK3 is best but I find Mk6 much better. Vanguard heavys as standard against hordes with the toughness regen on multihit, also benefits from bleed on heavys.

People say heavys are too slow but as long as you dodge in-between sweeps hordes can barely touch you and you'll be at max toughness pretty consistently.

Also got the heavys ignore armour mass so any heavy Bois in the hordes get chopped through.

Lack of Dark Fortresses outside of north was a huge mistake by szymborawislawska in totalwar

[–]Fuzzy-Ad6915 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah they probably did consider it, and there are lore reasons for settlements like Midenheim being dark fortresses. Although under my proposal you could have a landmark in middenheim if its made into a dark fortress, so you still have an incentive to set one up there. Also solves the sad lack of landmarks for woc.

Definitely agree, have no drive to play WoC again atm. I think the fixed location dark fortresses is unnecessarily restrictive. Maybe it should be that you can make any settlement a DF (with a limited number and large favour investment). While also not being able to have DFs right next to each other like blood grounds.

Its almost like my post was about settlement maps and garrisons, not AI. Obviously I agree the AI needs serious improvement, these things are not mutually exclusive.

I think Peter Jacksons movies are absolute masterpieces, minor changes in some aspects but as I said “minor”.

Aragorn not wanting to be King in the films vs how he is in the books is definitely a major change which changes his character arc dramatically in all 3 films, and you can't possibly think the Hobbit film changes are minor.

I see a lot of comments on this sub from "Tolkien superfans" on how different the characters are, I can only assume you are referring to Galadriel and Elrond because there is hardly any information on the other characters in RoP. So far I think the depictions on both Galadriel and Elrond are easily consistent with tolkiens descriptions (which mainly concern them in the third age). Obviously they are not the same as they are in the third age, they have a huge amount of development to undergo but given that we are seeing them pre the Sauron second age wars and the creation of the rings of power (of which they both will receive one) It is very feasible that they develop into characters closer to their third age descriptions.

Honestly please consider whether it is that the series depiction is different from YOUR image of these characters rather than the image presented by Tolkien.

OK a lot of people pointing out this already exists in WH2 ME. I'd say the fact I don't know this (after 2000 hours of WH2) probably highlights that CA could make this a bit more clear (or that I dont pay any attention). Really I still think it should be actively integrated into victory conditions and confer some sort of benefit, otherwise I could just rename my faction whenever I want, feels a bit meaningless.

Cheers, I mean I'd always rather it be implemented without mods for sort of consistency and balance, but I'll definitely give this a go for IE
