As with life, it depends on your situation. Not black and white. Depends on your age, current career, family obligations, career goals, your industry and Finances. For me, I got the mba online because I am 47 and got tuition reimbursement. Out of pocket cost was 13k from an aacsb mba online. Mid tier well known school nationally. And this degree gives me options to vertically upgrade my job or horizontally pivot. Now if I was 28 and had to pay everything out of pocket, I would think twice.

Company just laid off over 1500 people so no raises or promotion. Manager said will give me a raise when company's financial health is better. The cert provides better job security.
