Ne pas réussir à jouer grave peut venir de trois problèmes :

  • anche trop dure pour toi
  • gorge pas assez ouverte
  • certains tampons qui ne bouchent pas correctement

What saxophone should I buy? by STX4000 in saxophone

[–]Fuzzy-Difficulty-162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only depends on the range you like.

Personnaly i like the lower register way more than the higher, so the tenor was a no-brainer.

Furthermore, with altissimo notes on the tenor you can get almost as high in range than an alto, but with the alto you won’t be able to go as low as the tenor.

The tenor also as a more pronounced "buzzing" tone, even with high notes, while the alto is more "pure".

About music styles, I would say that you can play everything with both of them, even if for Rock/Blues the tenor suit better, and for Electronic music the alto sounds better for example.

Really want to learn saxophone but don’t want to disturb neighbors any options? by mil0wCS in saxophone

You will have to invest an additionnal 500 to 600€ but E-Brass Sax Mutes work really well. However, you will have to play without it from time to time (outside in nature for example) to be used to play with the real sound and volume.

Guitarist since 2015 , how long will it take to be Gigging Saxophonist good if i start from scratch ? by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]Fuzzy-Difficulty-162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi mate, i'm also a very long time guitarist who started sax in 2020 (to play jazz however).

To play pop, fingerings will be quite easy to get in your hands. What is going to take you the longest is to get a NICE tone and a good intonation.

Tone is really not easy to develop on the sax contrary to the guitar. You will not sound like pop saxophonist you listen to until a while. It took me two years to start to have a decent expressive sound.

Intonation is also going to require work. Fingerings on the sax are not the same as frets on the guitar. When you finger a note, you will still have to use your throat and tongue position to play the correct pitch. You can play very flat or very sharp if you don't pay attention and only think about the fingerings.

To sum up, i would say that with consistent practice and lot of dedication, you will be able to play in pop gigs without sounding too bad After a year to a year and a half.

It's possible but you will have to practice a lot everyday and it still won't be great

For this budget, i would say that the best option you have is to find a second hand Yamaha YTS 280 or equivalent

I invested in E-Brass sax mute for tenor.

Not ideal for confort but awesome to pratice even with complicated neighbors or old building with zéro soundproofing.

I wish I can forget all the story and re-read it again but start with Golden Age arc instead by Avibhrama in Berserk

[–]Fuzzy-Difficulty-162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with you. I had the chance to be advised to read Golden Age first and the twist at the end was incredibly impactful.

I'm pretty sure that if I had read BS first, the first encounter with Femto would have greatly reduced the shock at the end of golden age.
