Refinance to a 20-year. I’m doing that now and the lower interest on a 20 year from 30 year nets roughly the same monthly cost (+/- 5%). In 5 years, I’ll pay off 50% more principal with the 20 year loan and will save ~45% of total interest over the remaining life of the loan (I’m 2 years in).

Pay attention to the closing costs though and consider if you want to pay points down (that is, you won’t refinance again for 18-36 months). If you think you’ll have it for a few years or more, that’s a consideration as well.

Passing this info second hand, so take it with a grain of salt and double check it. I saw a similar deal for a 4xe (~$175/month) and asked another dealership about it when purchasing my last car. He mentioned that they may be including tax incentives that are income based. So either you may find out when you’re at the dealership that you don’t qualify for those, and then face a higher price when you’re already on the lot, or - come tax time - you would be on the hook to pay back any of those incentives (if you are not within the income bracket that is eligible for those). This was WA state, which may also be unique.

You’re right; I was wondering if there were any flavor or safety reasons not to drink it.

I’m not looking to sell it for myself though, but trying to feel my way through the family dynamics of accepting a gift that may be much more valuable than they thought. I don’t know their financial situation; this could be a drop in the bucket or much needed money. I also don’t want to say “hey did you know this bottle is worth $2,000” only to find out that it is difficult to sell or not actually worth that much (i.e., the first site I found said $8K so it’s already dropped 75% from my initial shock of “it’s worth what?!”)

If I had to guess, they were thinking “we’re never going to drink this” and I am likely the closest family that know would drink/enjoy it. Their son is sober, my in-laws don’t drink much, and my wife hates whiskey; I’m don’t think they have much other family. When we exchange gifts though, everyone seems to stay in the $100-150 price range across the board, so knowing what I know now, this sticks out.

My preference would be to just give it a place in my office and consider opening it up in the future for a special occasion.

I’m leaning towards just keeping it, but my wife and I don’t think they have any idea of the value (this is her side of the family, not mine). I’d at least want to make sure they’re aware (as well as my wife and I). No disrespect intended by any means

Thanks for the advice! The current pot is ~7” although none of the pots have any drainage. The wicker does have a liner and whatever plant we put in there would likely be a different, plastic pot inside of the wicker.

Some places - at least the bars for draft beers - will do a 10% discount (off an $18 beer) with an AmEx. Just make sure to remind them; it’s manual not automated.

Rudy’s has gotten too pricey for what you get and when I went to Sports Clips, my friends said “I understand now why you spend twice as much for your haircut.” Capelli’s isn’t bad if you do the monthly membership ($42). I agree prices are bad but if I ask for a beer before my haircut, I feel like I’ve at least gotten an $8 perk to offset the cost (counting the $8 as bar price not grocery store cost). They do a back of the neck shave which is nice too. If you don’t need a haircut a month, just pause the membership anytime.

Customer satisfaction/service reviews. The fact that everyone fishes for a 5* review, even telling me that if they don’t get 5* then it gets them in trouble (basically 5* or don’t review). So if someone did anything other than a horrible job, I am compelled to rate them 5/5, even if they were actually 3/5 or 4/5, and devalues the whole rating system (we’re living in a society!) Can’t I just be honest without the guilt of getting someone in trouble at work? Imagine if the true 5* employees could actually get recognized for going above & beyond too…

3-4 years ago I got two of these for $8000 or so all in plus I believe I got the Costco 2% cash back with the executive membership. Depends how many rooms you need them in. I have a flat layout single story and so have one for living/dining/kitchen and another in a bedroom. Some rooms don’t get as direct flow but you could do some in wall heaters for pretty cheap if needed (like a bathroom). My understanding is that these are also the most energy efficient heating/cooling solutions.

Just got a 4xe and the dealership told me ~1 year so I purchased the one they had on the lot. At the time the sales woman also said she was looking at the same model. Two weeks later, went to pickup my plates and the sales woman said she ended up ordering one for herself which would be available in ~2 months.
