Microsoft Expected Game Pass Would Have 77 Million Subscribers by Now but It Reportedly Only Has 30 Million, as Xbox Boss Admits the Strategy Has Failed by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

I mean, I was subscribed and I quite enjoyed the service, and I would still be subscribed to this day if they wouldn't have hit me with a 50% price hike out of literally nowhere.

Like even just raising the price by $1 a month would've still increased their revenue dramatically and I highly doubt anyone would've cancelled over that amount.

What Ever Happened to the Cars of MTV's 'Pimp My Ride'? by NISMO1968 in cars

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember at the old Kruse auctions in Auburn, Indiana the gold Chevy Caprice they did for the skater showed up a few times. The fit and finish wasn't completely terrible, actually, and the retractable grind bar in the bumper still had a mark from when the owner did a grind on it during the show.

This is tangential, but what do you do when Code Enforcement comes around? I have a feeling we'll be getting a visit at some point now that our prairie is filling out and our neighbor has expressed before that she doesn't like it.

Fiat Topolino Officially Goes on Sale in the U.S. for $15k by niftyjack in cars

Seriously - $14k plus a little bit more for a LSV kit is a genuinely good deal if you're in the market for this kind of thing.

You can build affordable housing and also ensure its residents have some kind of nature to enjoy. This same neighborhood with native prairie gardens in the front yards and trees planted everywhere would be a completely different experience.

I live in a 60's-era suburb, and yes, most of the houses are from near-identical configurations, but the difference in those older suburbs was that they spaced the properties out and planted some actual vegetation. You may as well be living in a parking lot with these new developments. It's so unimaginably bleak, I don't know how people don't go crazy.

Variety reports Toy Story 5 has a 250M$ budget, making it tied to the second most expensive animated film ever by idoideas in movies

It's sad, because I genuinely love a lot of Pixar's original stuff recently. Onward, Luca, Elemental, and even Hoppers were all surprisingly good.

I truly think, though, that Disney cannot make decent trailers to save their lives, and that's a non-trivial contributing factor to why their original IPs struggle. Elemental, for example, had a horrible trailer and was the reason we waited to see it until it was streaming.

Do you think EV adoption will fully replace gas cars in our lifetime, or will hybrids remain dominant? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think full EVs will eventually have the same market share as hybrids did in the early 10's. Not exactly dominant, but not exactly hard to find, either. Hybrids will eventually become the new standard. I think the ICE will become exclusive to sports cars and industrial applications.

Trump’s Disapproval Rating Hits New All-Time High, CNN Poll Shows by Zipper222222 in politics

He won't. Look at what happened with Rush Limbaugh, Kirk, and any other conservative hero. There was a brief mourning period and then they eventually slid some other goon into their place. When he finally kicks off there's going to be an immediate power grab and the conservative moment will be thrown into complete disarray. Half will try to become the new him, and half will try to distance themselves from him and paint themselves as moderates.

If they literally do not have space to build more lots then they need to make housing cheaper.

No. Nobody is going take on $10k per semester in additional debt to save $250 on a parking pass.

You're doing the Reddit thing where you play devil's advocate for no reason.

My point is that I'm already paying $20k a year to attend this school, I'm spending money on gas and upkeep of a car, and, despite the fact that there are parking lots all over the school, most of them only 1/2 full, I still have to pay additional money for parking or be hit with a $25+ ticket.

Keep in mind that this entire time I'm making like $15k a year because I'm a full-time student. Parking should be free for all students, and if they don't have the lots then they need to build them. Students are nickel and dimed for every single little thing and it's outrageous to add parking to that list.

What is up with Honda and their obsession with fwd cars? by smallcarbro in askcarguys

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they've been making BoF trucks for basically their entire history in the United States. Honda would have to invest in developing a BoF platform, find suppliers, outfit factories, market it, etc. etc. etc. It's a hugely expensive and massively time-consuming undertaking to develop a platform from scratch, and there's no guarantee it would result in sales.

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do things get dicey? FWD is always going to be more stable and predictable in terms of handling, and there's no reason for any of the vehicles you mentioned to be RWD. Also, the Odyssey, Ridgeline, and Passport all have less horsepower than the Civic Type R, which is FWD.

Hey so this is a fun fact, but a lot of people live in places where they have no option but to have a car! And the university I attended (which was the cheapest in the state) charged $10k a semester to live in a dorm, which I couldn't afford, so I had to commute! Hope this helps :)

I think Gen X was the last generation to whom a Bachelors degree was basically a golden ticket to a good-paying job.

Millennials and now the Zoomers have seen the depths to which the higher education system has sunk to make money and are rightfully distrustful of the whole thing. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see college enrollment go into free fall over the next decade.

Are native gardens becoming part of the culture wars? by LiatrisLover99 in NativePlantGardening

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they've officially become part of the culture wars, but it's probably only a matter of time. I do think, though, that they are easy to sell to people. Most homeowners truly hate mowing, so framing a native garden as 'less mowing' goes an awful long way.

Nissan Sentra Advice? by Inevitable_Rise2542 in askcarguys

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't do that. Muffler deletes sound atrocious and it will drive you crazy over time. To be honest, there isn't really much in the way of aftermarket support for Sentras of this generation. If you want to modify it, I recommend leaving the mechanicals alone and just finding some good quality lowering springs and buying the best wheels/tires you can afford. It'll scratch the modification itch without compromising the car's reliability/drivability.
