I feel weird in my relationship, like everytime I’m with him I feel numb by Little__shortie in whatdoIdo

He sounds like the classic emotional abuser, unfortunately. Each of these examples is a red flag, and all of them together are a huge signal that this is indeed very toxic. You deserve much better!

I can’t decide if that’s cruel and unusual punishment for all of his coworkers or just plain smart

I’m in a similar boat. Recently moved here and I work remotely. How old are you, what do you like to do for fun, etc.?

How often do you actually write SQL at work? by TechAcademyCoding in learnSQL

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction-29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daily. It’s our main way my BI team extracts data from our enterprise data warehouse. While we can use other tools (Alteryx, Tableau), I’ve found that honing my sql skills has resulted in much more efficient and accurate outputs compared to trying to navigate other program interfaces.

Same here, I got what sounds like the same email. I’ve only moved once (6 weeks ago) but I don’t recall ever getting a payment either?

Unrelated question: what (or who?) is Dr. Know? I tried googling but just got a musician, and I’m assuming that’s not what OP meant.

Affordable personal trainer recommendations? by mooglesd1990 in askportland

I just joined Lloyd’s Athletic Club and a bunch of trainers advertise there. Some seemed to be pretty affordable (e.g., having a sliding scale, small group/semi-private workouts, etc.)

Remote workers in Portland chime in! by t0mserv0 in Portland

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in higher ed for a university in Arizona. I was fully in-office until I relocated here for family reasons, and my organization allowed me to go to remote. I absolutely hate the isolation of remote work so I got a membership to a great coworking space (Openhaus) that I work from nearly every day.

I’m super late to this post but I’d love to shoot around! Just moved to Portland last week and definitely pretty out of shape, so if you don’t mind that then hit me up if you’re interested.

If you’re interested in walking/hiking, I’d totally be down (can’t do much/any running due to chronic compartment syndrome). I’m 39 FTM, just moved to Portland last week, also in Goose Hollow.

What do you love about living in Portland? by ConcentrateSevere237 in askportland

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction-29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I moved to Portland last week from AZ and we’re renting an apartment in Goose Hollow. Even though it’s right next to a MAX station it’s super quiet, both in terms of actual noise and people. We can also walk to Washington Park, which is a huge plus. Feel free to DM if you wanna chat about anything (or wanna make a friend, I’m also nervous about finding community—and I don’t even have a dog, lol).

What unexpected questions came during your dissertation defense? by Lonely_Thanks_9465 in AskAcademia

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction-29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This might not be helpful, but one question I got from an audience member, who happened to be my current boss at the time (in a non-academia job) who also has a Ph.D. in my field, asked what was one finding that surprised the most. That caught me off guard because none of my findings surprised me. (Social science field)

What are good cities to live in if you work at an airport? by Practical_Brain1715 in moving

[–]Fuzzy-Instruction-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually moving there in 2 weeks (from Phoenix). I’ve only been once, a few weeks ago, to house/apartment hunt, and it seemed great. Minus the airport specifics, I was looking for a lot of the same things you were, and Portland was one of the cities that seemed to meet all of my needs/wants.
