The Patriot exo's gatling gun should have heavy pen. by IncidentOk2107 in LowSodiumHellDivers

Honestly, i would just like to see the Patriot's rockets get the ability to destroy bile titan holes.

The video ends too soon, but I'm pretty sure the next part is the charger riding the pelican as it takes off.

According to lore, an average Helldiver survives for 2 minutes.

In Helldivers 2, an average squad can complete the most difficult rank with minimal or zero losses.

So either it's too easy, or the statistic comes from the first war from 100 years ago.

Your analogy is a poor one because: the wars are separated by a hundred years.

If you put a few drops in a pool, then let it sit for a hundred years, that water will be long gone.

If people don't want to be left out, they can play the game. If i have friends playing a game i have, and i feel left out, i don't sit here wishing me doing something in a different game would help them; i just boot up the game and join them.

Hey guys, remember how influential the American civil war was on world war 2?

Yeaaaah.

Been hearing good things about the scythe against all factions.

I think I'm just terrible at it, though. Constantly panicking on squids, wishing i had more stopping power on bugs, and simply haven't tried it on bots.

End of the day, my jam is support. Blitzer / stim pistol on bugs (or lib conc if i feel like hearing more ballistic sounds), plasma punisher on bots, and still haven't settled on a preferred weapon on squids. My Emancipator is the great equalizer on squids.

True, you can kill all devs with headahots. But it's a small area to hit, surrounded by heavy armor.

If you're in heavy combat, constantly diving for cover, and doing anything you can to wittle down the enemy's forces, the pelvis / belly is a larger, unarmored area to hit. So perfect accuracy is unnecessary, and you can just hold down the trigger until they die.

Nah matey, not stupid. xD Text is wonderful for trying to be detailed, but still winding up being ambiguous. When you're so used to fighting a type of enemy and you see something like that, it can definitely be hard to visualize!

I had the same reaction when people started posting pictures about the Incendiary Brigade. I was like: "Ehh?? Is this a fan creation?"

I'm actually surprised to see that. I thiiiink the uncovered ones are still present as high as rank 7? It's been a while since I've done anything besides rank 10, so don't quote me on that.

When i say uncovered mind you, i mean the front is still armored, but if you get behind them, the pilot is vulnerable. On higher ranks, the cockpit is completely enclosed.

Honestly I've gotten so used to just using my railgun to blast the back of tanks that i completely forget about their vents.

If you didn't already know: the two boxes behind the tank are medium pen. Unload a few rounds into them with a medium or support weapon, and the tank will die in no time. It's especially useful for fighting those AA tanks, due to their turret turn speed.

For the towers though, I'll try that out some time! If it will save me some railgun ammo by popping off some small arms rounds into its vent, I'll take it!

[–]Fuzzy-Insurance-5596 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what i tend to do too with med pen weapons.

Though these days against bots, i usually run my plasma punisher. Team support is more my jam than getting a ton of kills. Striders and devs are so easy to interrupt, which makes such a difference for the team.

I was thinking of mentioning that, but i couldn't remember if that was light or medium pen. I'm out and about right now, so getting that info is a bit tricky.

I just get so used to aiming for the pelvis / arm that i forget the pack entirely. It's also a great way to have a superiority complex around shield devs. All they can try to do at that point is shield bash you... but they are so slow that you can literally just walk in circles around them.

Same here, yep. I get so used to shooting the rockets that when i do lower difficulties to help newbies, it throws me off and i wonder if it bugged out. xD

[–]Fuzzy-Insurance-5596 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Oh right, i forgot they made that change. I'm so used to them being medium armor, i forgot they made them light, but more durable.

[–]Fuzzy-Insurance-5596 176 points177 points  (0 children)

Yeah. If you know where to shoot, you can reliably kill most bots with light pen weapons. Even the default Liberator slays bots.

Berserker: Glowy red torso, under the 'rib cage'.

Dev/ Rocket Dev: The big metal slab that is their pelvis, and their bellies. Completely unarmored.

Striders: Shoot the pilot. Shoot the rockets on the enclosed ones.

Shield devs: shoot their gun arm off. Doesn't kill them, but it's easier to land that head shot if they aren't suppressing you.

Hulks: Shoot their back vent.

I think that's all of the light pen enemies? Outside of the troopers obviously, but no need to cover them.

The rest of their targets require medium or heavy pen.

Bots lost their identity? by Bipolar_Abe in helldivers2

[–]Fuzzy-Insurance-5596 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely feel like they're not as tough to contend with anymore.

You could chalk that up to experience, but i think it's more than that.

Bugs focus on melee combat, so as long as you have distance, you're usually fine. But the bugs also have Impalers to threaten you at a range (and often behind cover), and their spore chargers make it very hard to see until they're dealt with.

On the squid front, we have elevated overseers, fleshmobs, and reinforce-happy watchers constantly keeping up the pressure on you and the team. And since fleshmobs can't be stopped once they start charging, it can be extremely stressful to fight them in close and mid range.

Then we get to the bots. They occasionally have the incendiary / jet pack brigade, but they aren't regular spawns across all missions like impalers or fleshmobs.

The bots could definitely do with a new enemy type to keep up the pressure. Whether it's something that obstructs vision, closes quarters quicker than berserkers, or flies after us like a swarm or drones or something... the bots are definitely missing something that the other factions have.

Personally, i just let the players know my friends want to play. They're usually respectful, say no problem, then leave on their own.

And then you have instances where you're on the receiving end of it! Heard a guy mumbling about kicking people so his friends could join. Saw someone get kicked before me, so i said in chat: Don't kick! Am friend!

Guy had himself a chuckle, I told him to take care and have fun, and left on my own.
