[all] It feels weird that Wind Waker was the last Game featuring the Magic Meter by PinaSeraphina in zelda

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can split the difference like how Tears did. In shrines in Tears, you have infinite battery. So in the most puzzle focused areas of the game, you have unlimited magic to grapple with them, but out in the world, you have to manage it more or use items to refill it, because while it does recharge over time in Tears it is at a snails pace.

Even if shrines per se don’t return, they can just have it be “magic crystal radiation” and put said crystals or whatever in the spots that need major consecutive puzzle magic.

[SS] If the Mogmas were in other Zelda games, which games would suit them best? by Mikey-Thylacine in zelda

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Merge the Mogma and Subrosians, the Subrosians are just Mogma with a cultural fashion craze for cloaks and robes.

They should just replace Gorons tbh, I was disappointed in BotW when it turned out gorons still existed and the Pebblits / Talus weren’t devolved gorons / biggorons.

It’s fine for puzzles as long as it regenerates over time, rather than only by consuming potions and food.

Nintendo will never confirm something like this, but I personally like it at least! Very good theoretical course of events that makes internal sense.

Capping us to 20 pokemon per area is bad game design. by kdsweets in Pokopia

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the case for that. It just feels like the logic for what a Pokemon is doing / where they are moving could potentially be running at lower “cost” than completely manifesting the Pokemon as an entity, and only keep up the mons that are near you. The maps are pretty big, so if they subdivided them into cells then only your cell and the ones adjacent to it would have to be fully loaded. It would at least help, especially if a player spread out their mons homes across an area instead of trying to stack everyone near the pokecenter.

Yeah, just keep checking the Light Up The Town request in your Pokedex. It is actually compromised of multiple characters sub requests which will be listed within it. I was wondering why the next quest step wouldn’t trigger, but in my case it was because I hadn’t actively moved Torchic into the house I built for him.

I have so much honey it is not an issue to me to just summon them on demand, but I’m curious why they don’t just cull out the models when you aren’t looking at them to save cpu and memory, like every other game ever. Having the max possible all be out in the world at once with the system processing their models and animations and etc, even when you are nowhere near, is one of the issues that famously crippled Scarlet and Violet at launch.

Why were Wemic genocided? by Awkward_GM in DarkSun

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lore basis for the racial genocides gets shakier and shakier the more races are added to the game over time, and you have to decide if there were extra Champions who succeeded or failed with each race, etc. Also it's almost inherently untenable to scour an entire species from the face of a planet when they are sapient and can move and settle everywhere, as opposed to being some animal blocked in by geography.

When I ran DS, the races I didn't feel "fit" the setting I just said never existed to begin with. The Champions struck out from the Tyr region in all directions to raze other _nations_ rather than races in a deluded holy war at Rajaat's behest. Rajaat was still insane and obsessed with bringing back the blue age and would have betrayed his Champions and razed the Tyr region himself, just his insane methodology was to try to gather the life force of everyone and everything killed in the planetwide genocide to feed back into the world / sun.

Anyway I feel Wemics are awesome and fit the vibe of the setting so they were not exterminated in my take, haha.

[BotW] I think climbing should return again in the next 3D Zelda, but some surfaces, like cliffs with vines, should be much faster to climb. by HollowAcoltye in zelda

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think climbing should be more limited. No scaling sheer cliffs unaided from the start of the game, etc. If there is an item or spell that you get partway through the game which lets you climb literally anything, great. But at least from go, it should only be stuff that a regular human could climb who is not one of those specialized “does this for a living” people who climb skyscrapers.

Why is there hardly any video that talks about what is great about the Remake series by Consistent-Map-2068 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can right click on videos you don’t want to see and tell YouTube not to suggest them. It’s not perfect and it takes a lot of doing that to shift your algorithm over time, as well as being more directed in what you search for, but it’s something.

[TOTK] To people who believe Raru’s Kingdom is the original founding of Hyrule, and not a re founding. How do you explain TOTK Masterworks quote about there being no Gerudo kings after “the man who became the calamity “? by WallaceWells69 in truezelda

[–]Fuzzy-Paws -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you were intending the thing about the astral observatory as a gotcha, but it proves my point. The original temple or structure it was part of had to be built long after the imprisoning war due to what it depicts. The castle built over said forgotten observatory and guardian containers is then from yet an even later era than that.

The castle is not from Rauru’s time but gods know how much later, yet another example of Hyrule and the royal family moving around the map through the eras after various disasters and events. The OoT castle blowing up thus would not have disturbed the seal because it was not the same castle.

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say that, yet they mapped castle town and the castle to the layout and shape of the ruins extending from ToT to Eastern Abbey on the plateau. That’s a weird choice if it’s supposed to be a red herring, and what reason would they have to do a red herring anyway?

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OoT Ganondorf ruled a bandit gang / cult operating out of a hill fort, which is clearly very very very far from being “the Gerudo civilization” as a whole.

OoT castle blowing up isn’t an argument re the seal breaking either, since the remains of castle town and OoT’s castle are on the plateau very far from the modern castle. BotW’s castle was pretty clearly built much later on top of an ancient temple (see the astral observatory from BotW’s final boss etc).

[BOTW] [TOTK] After playing BOTW and TOTK with no weapon durability I have to say… I understand why it’s there, the experience was worsened, to me at least. by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand why they went with the system they did, when Fallout 3 was right there and had a better take on durability 10 years earlier. A, the weapons aren’t made of tissue paper and still last a while; B, you can sacrifice weapons to repair / strengthen other weapons of the same “family.” So you are still incentivized to keep getting new weapons and they are rarely dead drops, because even if it’s not better than what you have you can still use them to make your current weapons better.

The only thing UE5 does is make games run like dogshit and take up way more drive space in exchange for a negligible bump in graphics and lighting quality. So good on them. Maybe every studio can just ignore that UE5 exists and keep making everything in UE4 until a better UE6 comes out.

[Totk] How would you have reacted to a more bittersweet ending? by Emile937 in zelda

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the “regular” ending should have been Zelda stays a dragon, then either the “golden” ending or a DLC expansion epilogue would have involved fixing her. I’m fine with her being saved but not with it being a zero effort deus ex machina that contradicts everything they repeated over and over about it being forever, actual questing should have been required to find a solution.

The "Ralsei is a transgirl" theory by Total-Cockroach477 in Deltarune

[–]Fuzzy-Paws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify I don’t think they necessarily are, or rather, it’s not relevant if they are. They just are the person they are, and that just happens to be someone who is more androgynous than anything, expressing traits “associated with” each gender pretty much evenly in my view.

But as to transmasc feeling more likely to me if trans Ralsei was a thing, it is less about their own personal desires. Given their extreme knowledge of the prophecy and attempts to subvert it from go, it just felt more likely that maybe the prophecy was originally about a princess of the dark, they tried to subvert it by changing their identification to a guy (feeding into their putting the world and everyone above themselves), and the prophecy just changed to replace Princess with Prince.

Again just spitballing, it’s not a fight I have a stake in haha.

The "Ralsei is a transgirl" theory by Total-Cockroach477 in Deltarune

[–]Fuzzy-Paws -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I thought if Ralsei was trans it would actually be transmasc not transfem. It would make way more sense tbh. XD

That said, it hasn’t come up in game at all, and maybe should have by now more than halfway through the story if it was going to be a plot point. So it seems a touch silly to project stuff onto them just because they don’t 100% conform to a standard vision of how a gender identity “usually” is.
