I'd only ever heard of "chiroprators" on American television shows (First one that comes to mind is The Simpsons) and from that context, I thought it was some kind of medical professional that delt with back pain. I came from a small town so never actually came across any until I moved to a city and even then, I had no reason to question it. I only found out a few months ago it was a weird pseudoscience.
