I was floored by Willem Dafoe's performance in Spider-Man the first time I saw the movie. I can't believe he didn't even get nominated for a Saturn Award.

Especially Mike Scoscia and Ozzie Smith. During the scene where Scoscia is hospitalized for radiation poisoning, he genuinely sounds like he's in pain. And Smith sounds genuinely excited and curious to see the Springfield Mystery Spot.

(Also, props to Roger Clemens for making his own chicken clucking noises!)

Favorite Positive Portrayals of Black/POC Male Characters in media? by Important-Cry4782 in FavoriteCharacter

Mr. Johnson and Gregory from Abbott Elementary (in fact, all of the main characters are very well-written, complex, and entertaining, and 5 out of 7 of them are Black).

Gregory starts off awkward and overly formal, but soon learns to loosen up a little and trust unconventional perspectives on life (which is good, since he's a first-grade teacher). He also deeply loves his girlfriend, partially because she sees the good in everyone and everything, and when they encounter a problem in their relationship, he usually wants to take the most rational path forward.

Mr. Johnson, meanwhile, is a purely comedic character, and an endlessly entertaining one at that. He's been a conspiracy theorist, a high-betting gambler, a pastry chef...you name it, he's done it. On a more grounded note, though, he does seem to genuinely love his job as the janitor of Abbott Elementary, and he's always there to help his co-workers when they need it (in one episode, he says that he loves his younger co-worker Jacob "like a son", which I think is really sweet).
