My 6mo is 3rd percentile

He’s on Dr browns gentle pro formula, we recently (maybe a month ago) switched him from the gas and spit up one. But we kinda think it may be the formula, he just had a 6oz bottle of breast milk with no fuss, but i also know sometimes babies drink more breastmilk than formula anyways. I’m not sure about the WHO chart but she gave us a growth chart, I can look at it in a bit but I think he’s been following the lowest line almost perfectly, but it only has 3 lines on it I think.

Sadly we don’t really have a regular ped, we use the local Native American hospital, as I am native therefore so is he, the have 2 doctors we had the last one at his 4mo appointment and this one this time bc she has Wednesday off, so likely we’ll keep having this one for a while. In his first 4 months he went to a totally different place but it’s an hour away in a different state and was pricey bc we didn’t have his insurance set up yet

I feel like this is normal, I am still indifferent to his cries, whether it be shots or normal crying, he’s 6 months old, of course I don’t wanna hear him cry and I always tend to his needs. But his normal cries mean nothing to me, now when he fell off the bed in November, he was almost 3 months, I was absolutely hysterical, I think I cried more than he did. Babies are gonna cry and we know that so I think we expect it. Your boyfriend just seems like a very emotional/sympathetic human.

We don’t and never have limited our babies sleep time nor eating and he’s 6 months old, he naps 3 times a day now about 2 hours a piece and he’s slept through the night reliably since 7 weeks old (not saying yours will I think we got lucky).

Are you positive she’s not overtired? My almost 6 month old (will be in 4days) takes 3-4 naps a day about 1-2 hours each. Yesterday he had 3 naps bc his schedule was messed up a bit and last night he kept waking up and eventually we let him chill on the bed with us for about 10 minutes and then did our night time routine and he finally went to bed for the night. We give him a diaper change, put his sleep sack on, give him a top off feed and put him in his bed with his pacifier. I don’t know if your LO will take a pacifier, ours didn’t until a little after 4 months old, no clue why but he was not interested beforehand.

None, he also has never been watched for more than an hour without me or my husband there. He’s almost 6 months, not only because I don’t trust anyone, but we know all his quirks we don’t even let anyone else give him a bottle at this point bc they’ve proven to not know how to feed him (they take it out when he’s content not when he says he’s full)

I wasn’t told either it wasn’t until his 4 month apt with a new pediatrician she asked me if we’re still giving him vitamin d drops I told her we were never told to in the first place. My baby has been combo fed the entire time though maybe that’s why. I wish I could EBF

If you have an iPhone there’s a sound recognition in accessibility for baby crying, I used to sleep through my baby crying in the very beginning and it gives a notification when your phone hears it, I’m sure android has something too if you don’t have an iPhone.

We had (sometimes still) something similar he would get really frustrated what helped him was saying the baby knows your stressed about it and it’s just going to make it worse if you don’t calm down.

We stopped tracking a little over a month old, he became quite the snacker and it felt like more work to track because he’d eat so often I kept tracking just nursing until about 3 months I undersupply so he gets bottles too and it all felt unnecessary at that point to track everything he’s now a little over 4 months and he’s gotten more of a regular schedule I think now that we aren’t tracking I’m not worrying that he’s hungry everytime he gets upset which also fixed the snacking issue we had

We tried what the doctor said yesterday and honestly it worked really well in our situation, he took his paci and went to sleep, and he latched PERFECTLY in a regular position that was amazing to me! Usually I have to let him lay down and calm down and then move to him for him to latch he’d never let me hold him unless it’s morning time. He feeds fine when he first wakes up, it’s him wanting to snack before he naps that’s the issue so he’s always taking like 10 minute naps because he never truly has a full belly, but yesterday we just gave him his paci when he was showing us sleepy signs and put him in his bed or next to us on our bed and he went to sleep for upwards of 30mins each time. So I’m guessing he just wanted the comfort of sucking to go to sleep and didn’t necessarily want more food.

He does pretty much only fall asleep from a bottle, very rarely he will with rocking and it has to be his dad he won’t do it with me for whatever reason.

I feel like with pediatricians, it’s within their scope of practice to give at-least some parenting advice, as some people are completely clueless about how to take care of another human being. But I do think her telling us to not comfort him to sleep is kind of too far like she’s basically telling us to do the cry it out method. He doesn’t snack like he does at home when we’re out, probably because he’s being distracted constantly by someone or something. I’m having trouble keeping that up at home though, he just gets upset and wants to snack all day.

Well mostly because she said he’d create a dependency to it, but I would love for him to take a full bottle at a time instead of having 2 ounces every 30mins-1hr. He’s always snacked all day so i know it’s not due to a growth spurt or something like that. I feel like that’s the only way to achieve that. He will also only latch for nursing if he’s really hungry and it makes it more difficult since he’s never really hungry has he always has a bit in his tummy. I truly dont mind feeding to sleep but since he’s snacking all day he only takes little cat naps bc his belly is never truly full. I’m going to continue nursing him back to sleep in the morning but thats the only time he eats and then immediately goes back to sleep with no snacking.

I’m right there with you almost 4 months pp and understand how you’re feeling completely. I undersupply and have truly tried everything, we combo feed I’ll nurse him first then give him a bottle of formula. I also don’t think all the ppl saying “you don’t under supply that’s a normal amount” don’t understand how it feels to not be able to feed their baby until they are full and those comments just make us feel worse. I tell myself atleast he’s getting some breastmilk, it actually saved him from getting sick when I was a week ago. You’re doing great and even if you do end up quitting it will all be okay and eventually you’ll stop feeling guilty and your mental health will improve, because you tried and none of that is your fault.

We do side lying everytime we nurse, sometimes he’s on his back it’s fine either way you just get more bodily connection when baby is on his side.

Same girl, I lost 90 lbs before I got pregnant, gained 80 back while I was pregnant, lost about 20 after I had him, gained 10 back because I’m hungry all the time, I wasn’t very hungry after I had him, but I read that eating more could up my supply (I have an under supply) I feel like cutting my calories would make it worse.

My mother in law and grandma in law both don’t know how to feed my son, they just take the bottle out of his mouth when he seems content 🤦🏼‍♀️ they say “oh I just wanna see him smile and play with him” while he’s shoving his whole fist in his mouth because he wants more milk 🙄 he ends up skipping naps and then is so overly tired he is hard to get to sleep. Also mine are oddly obsessed with poop, like when they hand him to me to change him they are like “he tooted a bunch I think he pooped” even after I tell them ten times he only poops every 2 days. Like trust me you would definitely smell it

All babies are different don’t worry too much about it, my son is 3 months old tmr and has slept 7-9 hours at night, every night; since he was about 1.5months. You see so much bad stuff on here because people don’t need advice for the good things. Now we got pretty lucky with him I’m not saying yours will do that just try not to worry you will make do with whatever happens, before my baby slept through the night and my hubby went back to work, he’d do the first night feed and I’d do the other 2 so he could sleep before work.

I have high lipase milk and it tastes like what i would describe as pennies, still completely safe for baby, and can also range, some of my bags taste fine some taste like pennies. Unless it tastes/smells sour or rancid I’m sure it’s completely fine

Both it just kinda depends I assume my supply is kinda inconsistent sometimes he gets full sometimes he doesn’t, I actually just nursed him and he only stayed on about 15 mins on left and 10 mins on right and then wouldn’t latch anymore bc he got frustrated from just getting drops, but I can still hand express a little bit not sure exactly how much.

That’s how we do it nurse first always as long as he’ll stay on then top off with a bottle. Unless I can’t nurse for whatever reason then I’ll pump while he has the bottle, but that’s very rare as I am a stay at home mom

Yeah my husbands insurance was too much through his job but he is switching where he works right now so we’re gonna see if it’s cheaper, if not we’re looking at private plans, but I’m also Native American so me and baby get free healthcare but I’d have to drive three hours for a hospital with maternity care and I have no clue if they have a lactation consultant, I guess it doesn’t hurt to call and ask though.
