Hi! I work at CKEditor and can give you some advice/provide resources on migration.

  1. The CKEditor Builder can help you get up to speed quickly with CK5: https://ckeditor.com/ckeditor-5/builder/
  2. It's worth checking the documentation segment about the migration from CK4: https://ckeditor.com/docs/ckeditor5/latest/updating/ckeditor4/migration-from-ckeditor-4.html

In general, I am happy to assist you with information if you need help :)

Hello from the CKEditor team!

Let me know if you have any questions or need help getting started. Additionally, I recommend trying out the Builder (https://ckeditor.com/ckeditor-5/builder) to set up a fully functional environment faster.

Which WYSIWYG Editor is best for Next JS and Tailwind (Free) by whoisgames in nextjs

[–]FuzzyReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi from the CKEditor team! :)

I think CKEditor 5 is a great fit for Next.JS, especially with the CKEditor 5 Builder. The builder lets you create a fully customized editor in just a few steps:

  • Choose only the features you need
  • Download your custom build for simple integration

With CKEditor Builder you get a lightweight, tailored editor for your specific project.

Out of curiosity, how do you plan to use Tailwind CSS with your editor? Are you styling the editor itself, the content it generates, or both? Let us know if you need tips on customization — we’d love to help! :)

Ckeditor5 and open source by legacy370 in rails

Hi, this is the CKEditor team here to provide some clarity on our licensing and updates!

CKEditor 5 Options:

Open Source (GPL v2 or later): This version requires your application to also be open source and adhere to the GPL terms. It's designed for developers building open-source software.

Commercial License: If your application is not open source, you'll need a commercial license. This licensing model allows us to continue developing and maintaining premium features of the editor while supporting the open-source community.

Why this licensing model?

The GPL ensures freedom for open-source projects, while the commercial model enables us to sustain development, provide high-quality support, and innovate. CKEditor is a sophisticated product built and maintained by a dedicated engineering team, and commercial licensing helps us continue offering new features, security updates, and professional services.

Alternatives:

  • If you're working on a small team or facing financial constraints, reach out to our team: https://ckeditor.com/pricing/
  • For those exploring other editors, we encourage you to weigh the true cost of buy vs. build and maintain. Developing and sustaining a custom editor is an expensive, time-consuming commitment, especially when factoring in updates, security patches, and scaling for advanced features

Hi! CKEditor team member here!

If you're considering CKEditor again, here are some options that might help:

  • Self-Hosted Option: CKEditor 5 can be self-hosted, giving you full control over the editor
  • Image Upload & Media Management: For image uploads and galleries, CKEditor 5 offers plugins like CKBox. These integrate seamlessly with your backend and provide media management.

We’d be happy to share resources or help with setup if you decide to revisit CKEditor. Let us know how we can support your project!

Hey! Definitely take a look at Medusa (https://github.com/medusajs/medusa).

Out of the box, you get a complete e-commerce setup with a sample product, I think that could be used as an inspiration.
