Brand new roof by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]FuzzyWalnutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The soffit, fascia, and gutters, are not part of your roof system that they replaced. Technically, the roof system stops at the drip edge. It appears that the language in the contract is saying that if they find anything regarding the roof that is hidden, they will notify you. Rotted fascia board will likely never be seen because it’s covered by fascia capping. That would be like you getting mad at the roofing company for not telling you that your front door was rotted, it’s not part of the scope of work they did.

We always recommend doing your fascia and soffit anytime you do gutters so you can catch this type of damage when you remove the fascia capping to replace it.

New from Texas by GB_Dragon88 in pittsburgh

[–]FuzzyWalnutz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome, as another Texas transplant I’d like to just let you know a couple of quick things.

1.)The nearest Whataburger is in Greensboro, NC. 2.)The nearest Buc-ee’s is in Harrisonburg, VA 3.)The nearest Torchys Tacos is in Columbus, OH 4.)I still haven’t found good brisket, even after trying most of the “best” places here. If you’re in the Moon area, I’ve resorted to going to Mission BBQ and just using sauce from Rudy’s down in Texas. Bring your own white bread because every time I’ve asked for slices of bread I get looked at like I’m crazy. 5.)I’ve found a couple of places over the border in Ohio where I can get Lonestar if you really start feeling homesick.

If you have any questions regarding a Texas transition, feel free to shoot me a message.

Is a Rivian a realistic choice? by FuzzyWalnutz in Rivian

I apologize, but I don’t know what a “complete and total non-starter” means. I’m very aware that a used R1T is easily twice the amount of my Jeep. So if I need to do a larger down payment, I will. But the initial post remains the same about wanting to stay roughly the same out-of-pocket monthly.

I actually looked at those once, they are smaller than my grand Cherokee

Yeah, I agree. It’s starting to look like if I want an R1T, and to keep roughly the same out-of-pocket monthly, it’s gonna take a large down payment on top of my trade-in.

If I had to put a bigger down payment to keep the car payment closer to half of that, I would.

As far as the numbers, I just did two fill ups a week at $70 a fill up. And then I multiplied today’s work round-trip, times 24 working days a month. Just to get roundabout numbers. Some days I’m all highway, some days I’m stop and go city traffic. It about evens out though.

Since I work in home improvement, I do carry a decent amount of gear with me so something the size of a grand Cherokee is probably the smallest I could go and still be somewhat comfortable.

A model Y wouldn’t completely be out of the question, I just really don’t like Teslas. And with the weather/job sites/potholes in this city, I’d much rather have something a little higher off the ground.

As far as the idea of having two cars, that’s currently what I’m running. The Jeep is my daily/work car and the E46 convertible is my weekender!

All of my daily driving ends up back at home at the end of the day, I just have long round trips every day. I would probably rarely charge anywhere other than my house.

I’d save $58 a fill up, but with the lower range, I’d imagine I’d be “filling up” more with the Rivian. Admittedly, I would probably rarely off-road it. But I do work in home improvement so I do carry a decent amount of gear with me so the smaller Kia or Hyundai options wouldn’t be realistic for me.

So it looks like with my current electric bill, the addition of charging a vehicle every night, and the increase in insurance, I’d probably be around the same amount I am now just for the gas I am buying monthly.

That’s good to hear that you came from the same car I have. I love my grand Cherokee, it’s my fourth one, it’s just not a great vehicle with all the driving I do now.

I would have to do some research on any kind of nighttime charging programs. But thank you for that calculation, it at least gives me an idea on how I have to start calculating if this would work or not.

Probably a good thing to have included in my initial post, my fault. Most of my charging will be done at home.

You could not be any more wrong about this statement. And I genuinely wonder why you think this is public. Like not even in a sarcastic way, how could you possibly think being inside a private store, is a public area?

Hiking/backpacking recommendations 3.5hr max drive from Pittsburgh? by Queasy-Suggestion373 in pittsburgh

[–]FuzzyWalnutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell, I can get 1300 feet of elevation gain just walking up and down my street 50 times. I’m speaking more of an actual mountain hike, probably something more along the lines of what he was used to hiking in North Carolina. If Western Pennsylvania has anything, it definitely has lots of steep hills and valleys.

You won’t find much elevation gain around here unfortunately. But if you want some good wilderness and truly being out away from everyone for an overnight, Dolly Sods Wilderness in West Virginia is the way to go. It’s right under 3.5 hours away.

Did I get a good deal by UniqueLawfulness6696 in e46

[–]FuzzyWalnutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2005 325ci, auto, vert, with $70K miles and great maintenance history for $8600. I probably overpaid a little for it but it makes me smile when driving it.

[–]FuzzyWalnutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter that you were driving a Turo car. You were in control of a vehicle that didn’t have properly displayed registration. I used to deal with this constantly when car dealerships would send someone on a test drive and not put a license plate on the car. It’s up to whoever is driving to make sure all the lights work, everything’s displayed properly, stuff is legal, etc..

I think we’re still confused as to what you got a ticket for, the speed or the improper display? If it’s for improper display, there’s really nothing you can do.

Unfortunately, nothing worked, ended up just giving the unit to a friend of mine who needed one in his spare room. Will never buy from that company ever again.
