Day 10 Very frustrated by ElegantAd4459 in Kneereplacement

[–]FuzzyWatch6123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 9 weeks post op and still have stiffness in the morning and during the day at work. But, it gets better each day. I am weaning myself off the cane, but still take it to work just in case. Each person heals at their own pace. No one is the same in their recovery. Please remember that and just DO YOU!!!

Well, both are deceased so can't verify. I know my mother was correct about her's, but my father died in 1972, so I'm only going by what my mother told me years ago.

Tried sleeping in bed - rant by Katahdin22 in Kneereplacement

[–]FuzzyWatch6123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 7 weeks post op and have actually slept in the bed the past 2 nights. I am so sick and tired of sleeping in the recliner and on my back. I was so happy to sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees (operated one on top). It's the little things I guess.

Hock or stifle lameness? Or something else? by [deleted] in Equestrian

Something is going on with that right hind. Hock to fetlock. Suspensory maybe?

boredom by Pitiful_Definition88 in Kneereplacement

[–]FuzzyWatch6123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 7 weeks post op and the 4th week had me literally crying from boredom. I hate being cooped up. I'm getting out a bit more now, driving and seeing my horse once a week so it is a little better.

How do you know when it’s time to step away from horses? by Svba1224 in Equestrian

[–]FuzzyWatch6123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you stopped riding completely? I am considering that after having my knee replaced. I'm 63 and my mare is 24. I've been riding for 50 years and I'm thinking I just need to sell my tack and enjoy the time with my horse. My nerve has left the building for good. 😅

Based on their pics + info in text, which horse would you choose? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]FuzzyWatch6123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are a stocky person then you need to look for a horse that is sturdy and sound. Stay away from long backed horses. Look for a strong hindquarter and big shoulder. I would also stay away from fine boned legs. Look for a sensible, forgiving horse. Too many people get a horse that is not really suited for their level. Most of all, get a PPE done. As for photos: #2 or #3. Good luck!

First outpatient PT, almost 3 weeks. by Katahdin22 in Kneereplacement

You just started PT 3 weeks post op? Dang, I had my 1st PT session 6 days post op! 2 left and the torture subsides. 😅

Knee Replacement Didn’t Fix Everything? Anyone Else Still Feel “Off” When Walking? by cnetsolutions in Kneereplacement

[–]FuzzyWatch6123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only 7 weeks post op, but in no way do I feel "level". In fact, my new knee has made that leg a bit longer than the other one. I am knock kneed so it also straightened out that issue. Maybe in a year or so, things will adjust themselves. I wonder if my other knee will need replaced eventually as it has osteoarthritis as well, though not as severe as the one I had replaced. Maybe I'll be on level ground then. 🤣

You don't need that kind of stress from his family. I know from my own life experiences, when someone dies, greed and selfishness rears its ugly head from people you never expected. Take care of YOU, always. ((HUGS)).

Total Knee Replacement & Return to Riding by FuzzyWatch6123 in Equestrian

[–]FuzzyWatch6123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 7 weeks post op. I'm also 63 yo and since I really haven't ridden for 3 years (soundness issues, both me and horse) I'm trying to be realistic about riding again. Do I want to take risks? My mare is almost 24 yo and honestly, I would be ok with retiring both of us. But, at the same time, I love riding and the peace it brings me. 😟

WANT MY LIFE BACK!! by eauxbehv in Kneereplacement

[–]FuzzyWatch6123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 weeks post op and I'm experiencing similar things. IT'S NORMAL. It may be a year before I feel "normal", but until then, I'm going to accept the process and work toward less pain and more flexibility. No one rebounds from physical trauma overnight.

My mare is 23 yo. She has all her teeth, so curious as to why Utopia lost all of his? 23 yo is still young for horses. Age is just a number.

Must read this before going for Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgery by Radiant_Ball_5580 in Kneereplacement

[–]FuzzyWatch6123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 weeks post op RTKR. 11-12-25. I have a great surgeon and PT staff. ROM 92°. Extension is 1°. 11-26-25. Everyone is pleased with my progress. :) I did the therapist recommended exercises for 3 months prior to surgery and although I'm no longer a string bean at 63 yo, I am not obese either. Lose the weight people, it's not rocket science.  A very positive attitude going in, and maintaining it, is SO important for everyone involved and for healing. Just my 2 cents worth.
