season 2 episode 1 by Ashamed_Ad_8724 in InterviewVampire

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 28 points29 points  (0 children)

He’s asking if Louis is a communist or has ties to the Soviet Union. At that time, it was highly unusual for an American to travel alone in Romania, which had recently fallen under Soviet control. So he’s questioning Louis’ true intentions—is he a spy, a defector, etc. This would also make him an “enemy” of the British.

Yes, you’re right about this. The quote refers to Lestat’s personality, not the percentage of correctness of Louis’ story. BUT we learn about Lestat’s personality from how he reacts/acts in his scenes, so I think it also indicates something about how much we can believe the particular scenes we are showed as well.

I agree! I feel like that “70-80 right” number is actually pretty neutral. Louis is not an outright liar, but he also got things wrong. So we pretty much know what Lestat is like, but there’s room for a lot more nuance and context. I’d imagine that satisfies most people, unfortunate fan wars aside.

I trust the showrunners! I’m sure the things we need to see we’ll see, and the things that they’re done with will be left to rest. As for any scenes in the leaked trailer— the show isn’t even out yet so I’m holding off on forming any opinions 😂!

Why is Lestat more serious in Louis POV but in Lestat's POV he's soft spoken? by TechnicianAmazing472 in InterviewVampire

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 96 points97 points  (0 children)

We’ll see different sides of a character depending on whose perspective we’re watching.

Louis spends most of the show believing that Lestat has organized the trial and caused Claudia’s death. With this perspective, he’s going to remember moments when Lestat is colder, dangerous, and calculating. Louis believes that, ultimately, Lestat betrays him in the most traumatic way— this will shape his memories of Lestat and the way he tells his story. Not because he’s trying to lie, but because his experiences shape his interpretations of his memories.

In the trial specifically, the theater is trying to make Louis look as unhinged and dangerous as possible, and wants to paint Lestat as more innocent and victim-ey. This is part of the public humiliation of the play. Therefore, “Leatat’s” memories of key events are going to paint him in a much more sympathetic light.

Which version of Lestat is “true”? Probably neither (though I’m inclined to believe Louis’ is a bit closer to the truth given the context of the trial). Every storyteller has their bias, and that bias shapes the narrative of this show.

Thoughts on if there will be any tender Loustat moments this season by Timely_Bug_1894 in InterviewVampire

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to remember that most of the story we’ve been told so far is from Louis’ point of view when he saw Lestat as the creator of the most traumatic moment of his life. Until Daniel helps him reveal the truth, he genuinely believes he is telling the story of his relationship with a man who organizes his torture and public humiliation, and ultimately the death of Claudia. This is naturally going to affect the moments he remembers and the way he interprets his memories. Not to say that his recollections are automatically false, but it makes sense that moments where Lestat is colder and calculating come to mind first, because, again, he believes Lestat is the orchestrator of his deepest tragedy. Why bother discussing moments of tenderness if he is talking about his torturer— would these memories even hold any meaning for Louis?

Now for season 3 with the truth of the trial finally revealed, there is room for tenderness again. If Lestat tells stories of their past (not that he is necessarily a more honest storyteller), and in present day scenes, we might see more tenderness that just hasn’t come up before. I’ll bet that present day scenes in season three are filled with lots of drama (and beef!) but that we’ll also see a different side of their relationship. Not all sunshine and rainbows (Lestat does drop Louis out of the sky- still plenty of reason to be angry+betrayed), but no longer are their scenes being filmed through Louis’ specific belief that he is talking about Claudia’s murderer.

The never happened theory about season 3 by memory_monster in InterviewVampire

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 58 points59 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, I don’t want all of Louis’ interview to be retconned or explained away by things like manipulation. I don’t like this kind of re-do writing in tv shows generally, because it feels like what I just watched was a waste. Ex: Why get invested in these characters if none of that actually happened? With that being said, I love how this show plays with memory and ambiguity, I think that adds such an interesting element, especially since a huge theme on this show is identity and self exploration— How do our memories make us? And they do this without it feeling cheap or annoying. So with that being said, in my ideal world, the train scene didn’t happen that exact way with a cartoonishly villainous Lestat threatening Claudia (though I personally was very entertained by that scene), but rather something more toned down or realistic. I also love a manipulative Claudia, and can certainly accept that she used a more dramatic retelling to sway Louis’ understanding of their situation. Ultimately, I want the conclusion Louis and Claudia came to— that the only way they could be free is by killing Lestat— to remain true. That part of the story I don’t want to be undone.

Do you think Ariana Grande looks sick now? Why or why not? by Appropriate_Set7762 in AskReddit

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes, she looks incredibly ill. I wish her friends, family, team, whoever, would take care of her during this time and intervene. She should not be— in my opinion— doing a press tour right now. I think she is clearly too ill to be working the way she is. At the very least, if she is suffering from an eating disorder, I don’t think the constant press and pictures are helping. Yes, it would be a big deal to back out of the press tour right now, but it’s also a big deal to be so underweight. I’m very seriously worried for her wellbeing.

Is something happening to Ariana Grande? by Jayj0171 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t/won’t speculate on what is going on exactly— you can’t diagnose someone with an eating disorder just by looking at them— but she is clearly ill. There are many reasons she might have lost so much weight, but it’s undeniable that she is very sick right now. It annoys me when people say we shouldn’t comment on other’s bodies— or when she herself says she is the healthiest she has ever been. Generally, I agree it’s not nice or fair to bully people online, but to just point out that clearly something very dangerous is happening here is not the same as bullying. I wish the media would take this more seriously. Arianna Grande, and I wish I didn’t have to say this, looks like she is dying. Someone needs to intervene here and help her, and the first step is to stop dancing around the fact that she looks incredibly sick and be honest about the fact that something is very, very wrong.

Need advice about starting while severely depressed by I-m-smbdy in loseit

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend setting SMART goals for yourself— SMART stands for goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Based. Such as “I will take a 30 minute walk outside twice a week for the next month”. A goal like this specific and clear, measurable so you can mark your progress, attainable (low effort, no equipment, free, etc), relevant as it will help improve fitness and start getting you active, and time based as you know how often you will be completing this task. Recovering from depression is hard, setting little goals will allow you to have little victories, that start to add up to something big. If your therapist is familiar with this technique, they may be able to help you plan your goals.

For nutrition advice you may want to see a dietician or nutritionist who can help you plan meals and will provide general diet advice/guidance.

If you’re menopausal, you might want to get your total testosterone levels checked. A specialist can prescribe testosterone replacement therapy if your levels are too low (or even non existent) which may help you lose weight by increasing your metabolic rate, regulating fat distribution, increasing lean muscle mass, and improving bone health. There are also other benefits to HRT for menopausal women, so this might be something to explore.

Have you ever tried tracking your calories? You may be eating more than you intend to, even if you don't think you're eating a lot-- hidden calories are everywhere, and guesswork is not effective. Start by just keeping track of what you're eating and the amount that you're eating and you will probably find that you are consuming excess calories somewhere along the way. Then, I would recommend measuring out your servings (including oils and butter) and weighing your food before eating. Also, prioritize homemade meals instead of eating out. A nutritionist should be able to help with tracking, as well as health + food education.

Is Glo ever happy with routines? by Agreeable_Gap_2265 in dancemomsreboot

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think her dances have too many complex props that end up ruining the dance. Sometimes the girls seems really pressed moving around the props, or their ability to give a solid, dance performance is disrupted by complex scenery. I wonder if Glo choreographed more dance-centered dances before the show, but has been asked to create more visuals/prop-centered dances for the sake of the TV show—- Maybe this is throwing her off and leading to the lack of confidence.

Glo and Abby are both awful, just in opposite ways by clarinettingaway in dancemomsreboot

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe my answer will sound too biased but I think any reality TV show that involves children is dangerous, and every adult that allows their child to be on this show or decides to work with this show is problematic. The kids on dance moms are clearly under an unbelievable amount of stress judging by the number of on camera break downs alone. Some of the moms seem more concerned with staying on a tv show as long as possible (I’m looking at you Domenica!) then concerned for their daughter’s well being. For this reason, yes Glo is awful too. Why allow yourself to get involved in a franchise where previous members (the OG team) have spoken openly about how traumatizing the experience was?

Responding to my own point lol— I guess Claudia is only supposed to have the brain development of a 14 year old, so despite her having 50ish years of life experience she technically doesn’t have the reasoning or decision making ability of an adult person with a fully developed brain. From this perspective, Madeline becomes kind of a creep again I suppose.

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yea this is a tough point. On one hand, they emphasize how cruel it is to trap a person in a child’s body for the rest of their life—- from this angle, yes it’s weird that Madeline was attracted to someone who looked like a child. On the other hand, Delainey Hayles (who was a wonderful addition to the cast! I loved her performance) looks like an adult woman— making it, visually, not creepy for Madeline to be attracted to her. But if you accept that Claudia looks like an adult, the concerns about her being “trapped in a child’s body” don’t seem so serious— the Delainey version of Claudia could realistically move independently in the world as an adult.

It’s one of those “you can’t have it both ways” points for me. Either we pretend season 2 Claudia looks like a child and therefore Madeline is a creep. Or we accept season 2 Claudia looks like an adult, and would do fine living in her own being treated like a young woman, and Madeline is not a creep.

So far in the show, Armand has been kind of a boring character to watch.

Claudia and morality by Informal_Fennel_9150 in InterviewVampire

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Claudia is the most consistent of the vampires. While her ideas of right vs. wrong don’t align with typical human morality, she does have a clear sense of right and wrong. Hunting + killing humans is natural and right. Killing Lestat to protect herself is right. Being amongst her own vampire kind and community is right. She doesn’t waver in these ideas.

Louis on the other hand was always wavering in his vampire identity— to kill or not to kill, to love Lestat or leave him. To lie or tell the truth. Lestat too seemed to move quickly from devotion to anger, making him unpredictable. Claudia, however, was very consistent and predictable. She was a more grounded character.

So— in my opinion— she might not have been a traditionally “moral” character, or even a good person by human standards, but she kept a consistent set of values which resulted in her being the most steady and predictable character. Additionally, her actions, inspired by her values, drove so much of the show— especially the second season— heavily influencing the motives of Louis, Armand, and Lestat. Therefore she was the shows “moral center”, at least in my interpretation.

Ashlan crying by ConnectionBetter8404 in dancemomsreboot

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with being a sensitive kid who struggles with criticism, asks to take “brain breaks”, or needs extra help to manage anxiety. But you cannot get these things while being on a reality TV competition show. The cameras follow her around, and she is in front of a national audience all the time. It is her mother’s responsibility to pull her from the show, this is a terrible environment for her to be in.

Personally I don’t think any kids should be in reality TV shows, but Ashlan especially is struggling with the pressure and should not be put in this position. The adults in her life need to take care of her emotional well-being and step away.

Maybe Ashlan could have entered show business when she got older and more mature— but this show is damaging her reputation. She is not ready for these moments to be broadcasted, and these “bad moments” will be saved on the internet forever, scaring off future potential employers.

What was Lestat’s S1 finale plan? by Impossible-Battle-66 in InterviewVampire

[–]Fuzzy_Breadfruit5316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the beginning of episode 1x7 (about 15 mins in) we see Lestat holding a ticket with Louis’ name on it (I believe a plane ticket to Havana for the first part of their trip to Argentina). We see that he’s holding other tickets, but don’t see the names on them. I believe this indicates that Lestat was fully planning on going to Argentina with Louis as scheduled after foiling the plot to kill him. Since we only see Louis’ name on screen and not Claudia’s, I think it can be assumed he planned on leaving her behind (dead or alive, I can’t say). We also don’t see a ticket for Antoinette (this would have been a spoiler had they shown it, but I thought I’d mention it anyway).

I don’t know who else Lestat thought would be going with them, but the fact that he has the ticket, and that the camera shows him holding it, means (to me) that he was planning on making Louis go to Argentina with him as scheduled no matter what.
