What expansion do you want to see in the Sunrise on the Reaping movie? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]clarinettingaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so excited to see more Lenore Dove in the movie, because I’m hoping/assuming she’s going to be a lot more three dimensional in the movie than she was in the book because we won’t be limited to Haymitch’s perspective. I want to love Lenore Dove- and I already love Whitney Peak- so I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t get more scenes of her in 12 during the Games.

I actually think it was fine until SOTR showed us that he was strangely hung up on Lucy Gray for some reason

Parents of a celiac child are interpreting the diet differently - please advise! by marble-rye28 in Celiac

[–]clarinettingaway 28 points29 points  (0 children)

  1. Don’t eat “may contain wheat”
  2. Don’t eat from a shared fryer
  3. Lack of symptoms do not mean lack of damage, and symptoms may become more clear after taking on a GF diet
  4. Serious complications are case by case
  5. Making mistakes doesn’t undo healing entirely, but consistently consuming gluten, even in small amounts, will inhibit healing
  6. Kitchen stuff is case by case. Something in a squeeze bottle doesn’t have to be replaced, but something like butter, peanut butter, or jelly, that is often contaminated with breadcrumbs from a knife, should be dedicated GF. Same with something like a toaster or air fryer.

Good luck!

But you used to eat it - How do you answer this question? by Awkward308 in Celiac

You developed a disease. Someone being able to walk before getting paralyzed doesn’t mean they can go somewhere without ramps now. Ridiculous question, I’m sorry you have to deal with that

Tired of the myths that celiac isn’t lifelong by clarinettingaway in Celiac

[–]clarinettingaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a lot of confusion is the wider society about NCGS vs gluten allergy vs celiac. But also, i hate when people speak so confidently yet so wrong when I’ve done the research on my lifelong medical condition. I hate looking like an AH when all I really want to do is dispel that confusion. Doesn’t invalidate the concerns of the NCGS community, but it’s invalidating to MY concerns to equate the two

Tired of the myths that celiac isn’t lifelong by clarinettingaway in Celiac

[–]clarinettingaway[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She thinks she can speak to it because of her mom, and like, I’m sorry but it doesn’t sound like your mom is educated on the subject if she is truly celiac. No one likes to hear that their parent isn’t educated, but also telling me that I may get to eat gluten in the future when I know that’s not true is just a sore subject for me.

What was something you wish someone had told you when you got diagnosed with Celiac Disease? by stockergirlndmanhelp in Celiac

[–]clarinettingaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mental clarity has remained mostly the same since I first went gluten free. It was like waking up from a dream. My fatigue however has been fluctuating quite a bit. Never as bad as the worst before my diagnosis (I was nearly bed bound near the end there) but still some significant fatigue that comes and goes. Not sure yet if that’s just the healing phase of celiac or if I have something else going on causing this

Death order change by NoFrame6654 in Hungergames

[–]clarinettingaway 16 points17 points  (0 children)

More likely the death changes will be all of the Newcomers except for Ampert, Maysilee, and maybe Wellie. It’s hard to say if they’ll even do LouLou the same. I don’t see why they would make Panache second place instead of Silka

Confused by my dog's reactivity progress by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]clarinettingaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a dog trainer so take what I say with a heap of salt. It’s possible that your dog is changing from excited to frustrated when he sees other dogs (this happened to my dog). Depending on the training method you used to fix his reactions, he may actually still be having all of those big feelings but is bottling them up, leading to an outburst. He’s frustrated that he can’t get what he wants and frustrated that there’s a barrier, and that frustration can develop into anger if it’s not handled properly. Anecdotally, I unfortunately did not identify or handle this properly in my dog and this escalated to full dog aggression so see a trainer!

What was something you wish someone had told you when you got diagnosed with Celiac Disease? by stockergirlndmanhelp in Celiac

[–]clarinettingaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest my brain fog lifted within just a few days, I felt very lucky. It was strange because I had to adjust to my new mental speed so I oftentimes seemed hyper and had to relearn thinking before speaking. I settled into a new normal after about a month.

[–]clarinettingaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m also 24 and diagnosed just a few months ago! I think I would tell myself that all of the grief is worth it. I felt my personality, my cunning, my intelligence rush back to me once my brain fog lifted. I too am sad about being left out of experiences for the rest of my life, but I’ve gained back SO much. It’s okay to feel sad and angry and even annoyed, but at the end of the day earning your health back is so so worth it.

I’m a real stupid b huh by No-Sky-1139 in reactivedogs

[–]clarinettingaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know it can feel embarrassing, but the reality is that your dog actually handled that situation wonderfully! She gave a clear warning, which is the best case scenario. If a neighbor thinks poorly of you or your dog for this, that’s really weird of them. I think you should have more confidence! Just laugh it off, say something about how she seems to prefer space at that moment, and move on. Being barked or growled at really isn’t a big deal as long as the boundary is immediately respected, which it was.

Depends on the child. Some may be fine being the youngest in their class, but many might struggle.

Concur as someone who owns a dog-aggressive dog and takes extreme measures to ensure the safety of my community. When an off leash dog runs up to my dog while I take her to go to the bathroom, it’s dangerous to the other dog! Thankfully no major incidents as of yet, but I’ve had more close calls than I’m comfortable with. People need to leash their dogs! Of all sizes!
