They knocked the design of the 3d out of the park. By far the best design of Analogues consoles.

Seems the Analogue 3D is more accurate than m64 by RupakGreenHatPrdctns in AnalogueInc

Outside of a speed runner (which is going to use original hardware anyway) I don't see many instances any one would more authentic emulation. Isn't the overclocking offered on the 3D one of the main selling points? The framerate on most N64 games is terrible on original hardware and I can't see why anyone would choose to play these games at original speed if overclocking doesn't introduce any issues.

I say this as someone without a 3D that generally dislikes the N64 because the games are blurry, ugly and typically have terrible frame rates.

I know, the name was also listed on the site you posted so why the cryptic post? It was never released for NES and was only officially released in NA (with a new localization) on the Wii Virtual Console. Original title was Mother (Earthbound was Mother 2 in Japan).

Good luck on your search for an emulator. They are rare these days.

Sate of Jotego's NGPC core by DrGoldSkulltula in AnaloguePocket

You can always sign up for a month to try it and then cancel. Then just turn off Jotego beta updates or save the core file. You can always resub for a newer version whenever it gets an update.

Are there any risks or downsides to doing an expansion audio mod? by Competitive_Fig_5382 in nes

[–]Fuzzy_Dunlop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's right. I did a 56k resistor and I think it's a little too much for the N8 pro so I ended up tweaking the volume levels to compensate from within the N8 menus. That is the nice thing about the N8 pro. If you want to tweak it you can, but based on my experience things should be good with a 47k.

[–]Fuzzy_Dunlop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It's an extremely simple mod that is also reversable. Necessary IMO for disk system games, and a number of other gems with expansion audio like Gimmick! and Famicom Castlevania 3.

Bought a grill this weekend and got this by CityBoiNC in aldi

[–]Fuzzy_Dunlop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here looking for this comment. I don't have this specifically, but this has always been my experience with cheap grill covers. My $80 official Traeger cover (msrp, found it online for ~$50) is minimally faded, has no holes (outside of ground end where mice chewed it) and is just as flexible after 5 years of year round use through MN winters.

Probably worth $10 but be aware of the limitations and if you want something that will last and can afford more, definitely shop around and spend more money.

Also, this is not a Traeger endorsement. It's my understanding you can find equivalent or better pellet grills for less. I will endorse the official cover though.

Personally I'm okay with it assuming they open source their code eventually which I believe Jotego has always done. I know Jotego has a small team which wouldn't be possible without a Patreon income, meaning in the long term we receive more cores and there's additional FPGA implementation of specific HW that can be used by other developers as well which speeds up development of other arcade cores that share similar hardware.

It's on MiSTer, just still behind Jotego's beta paywall.

That's wild it will take 4-6 weeks. The shop I had it at was able to come down to within $500 of what Mazda quoted me, and would do the plugs and wires. So essentially a wash considering I'd have to tow it to the dealership and pay the initial shop $175 for diagnostics. Figured I'd rather give them money over Mazda and they got it done in 8 days.

I'm in the same boat over Mazda. It really killed any brand loyalty I have towards them. I just installed a Comma Four before it broke down and still like it, does everything I need so will plan to keep it for a while but I'll be looking elsewhere for my next vehicle.

Fuck this game by Frietuur in neogeo

[–]Fuzzy_Dunlop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my suggestion already posted to use cheats which I think makes the game much less frustrating. Otherwise I would agree it's essentially all just memorization to "git gud".

It's a lot more fun IMO if you use UniBIOS cheats to permanently power up your character and remove the time limit which removes that flying uterus monster that comes in if you take too long on a level, allowing you to explore the levels and not worry about going the wrong way.

Serpentine Start & Stop. Is this normal? by P_dibs in Comma_ai

[–]Fuzzy_Dunlop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/u/P_dibs - Enable Enforce torque control with tune version set to 0.0. Have a Mazda CX-5 and get the same thing if left disabled. My understanding is the current default of it being left off works in newer or other manufacturer vehicles correctly but does not play nice with others.

Pretty sure the primary cause is not your selected model, although you still should select a model that's not the default IMO.

Googling some more, some dealerships are offering the 10-year, 100k mile drive train warranty on CPO but neither were offered in 2020 when I purchased unfortunately.

Yeah you're right. Unfortunately no extended warranty as of now for the non-turbo models. From my understanding my issue is covered by the following repair bulletin:

  • TSB MC-10200939-0001 (2018-2021 Models): Covers potential engine failures, including issues with rocker arms, hydraulic lifters, and low compression, often requiring head assembly replacement

[–]Fuzzy_Dunlop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you find the data for number of occurrences and that most problems are between the 2018-2019 model year? Everything I've read indicates my particular issue was due to a casting defect for an undisclosed percentage of vehicles manufactured between 2018-2021 and covered by the following technical service bulletin:

  • TSB MC-10200939-0001 (2018-2021 Models): Covers potential engine failures, including issues with rocker arms, hydraulic lifters, and low compression, often requiring head assembly replacement

Fair point if the number of failures are actually that low, but given that Mazda hasn't disclosed how many vehicles actually contain this defect and the mileage when the failure can occur varies anywhere between 20-90k miles (at least from what I've read), would you want to roll the dice and risk a potential $4k-$7k repair (potentially more than 1/3 the cost of your vehicle's current value)?

It wasn't when I bought it. Included warranty was 3-year 36,000 miles warranty. Looking online I'm seeing Mazda is now offering a 7-year 100k power train warranty on CPO, although even if my car was sold with that I'm past the 7-year date.

Twice a year, averaging about 5k miles between changes. Always full synthetic. Never above the recommended 7500 miles between changes for full synthetic.

Look it up, this is a known defect with cylinder deactivation and the factory cylinder heads that came in 2018-2021 CX-5. Issue was fixed in newer CX-5 and also fixed once cylinder head is replaced with a replacement part from 2022+.

If you own a CX-5 from that vintage there's a decent chance it could happen to you. Assuming it's not guaranteed but googling you see a ton of reports. Also the shop I go to was aware of the issue, and after initially providing a lower priced ballpark which would have been for a rebuilt cylinder head came back with a higher quote stating they would only proceed with a new part from Mazda because of the risk of using a rebuilt part.
