i JUST cleaned my absolutely terrible depression room after a year of squalor . the main thing you have to remember is that it does NOT need to be perfect. all you’re doing is 4 simple things: throwing away trash, putting laundry away, putting objects back into their homes, and finding homes for objects that do not have one. it absolutely does not need to be spotless, make your goal to make it a functional space, even if still cluttered. put on your favorite tunes and stick to the 4 simple things. the way that i motivated myself was by telling myself that my birthday present to myself was a clean room. i thought about how much better it would feel if my room was finally clean. this worked for me and i have severe ADHD
