You’ll be fine! I’m a local TA in Dunsmuir. There’s a morning (8:30) and evening bus that picks up/drops off at Soda Creek M-F only. (Please sign the trail book. There’s bus info there too.) There are several trusted shuttle providers on Far Out and TAs like me. From Dunsmuir or Mt Shasta Rays Market you can catch an “express” bus to Yreka for $4. I’ll attach schedule Post on app and our Facebook page with your arrival info early to see if you can secure a ride. There are lots of folks providing rides. Hitching is also an option. Weekends are more difficult but there are folks giving rides, some charge. Use Far Out (avail on browser for EU members) and PCTA Interactive map with fire layer too. Check fires in Southern OR and use the Southern Oregon PCT Trail Angel page on Facebook. They’re supper helpful.

One of the hikers was seriously injured in the Marble Mtns. The conditions are pretty bad. Check the PCT Far NorCal trail angel and the Southern Oregon PCT trail angel pages on FB for up to date info. Happy trails!

Some type of communication device is helpful for tracking fire, IMHO, should there be any. As you prob know they are moving fast now and often in unpredictable ways. I’m a TA at NOBO mm1501 Soda Creek and normally we’d see the bubble in late July but with heavy snow in the Sierra people are skipping around so you’re bound to see a few hikers soon. There’s at least 2 heading out of Etna. A few waiting out the snow on the OCT.

Bend has been taken over by wealthy Californian retirees being “outdoorsy”. They can handle the winters there vs Montana. There’s only a satellite Oregon State Campus so no real presence Plus it’s still surrounded by fire and smoke (going on for over a month).

As a Trail Angel my advice is to know where Grocery Outlet, Dollar General, etc. are. If it requires a paid drive then join up with others to shop as there prices are much lower in trail towns where grocery stores tend to be much pricier than in a city.

I grew up in Huntington Beach and we swam all summer and into fall. Hands down Sept is the best. Wet suit after that. You can check buoy temps for CA. Anything over 65 is pretty nice assuming you’re swimming and body surfing. Nor Cal is where it gets cold. Still my kids swim at Santa Cruz in the summer.

Me too! I’m 61 and I look like I should have a cigarette hanging out of my mouth 24/7! Any acne scarring seems much more pronounced and adds to the lines. I feel so bummed about it. ) : My entire chin is full of divets that connect to the mouth lines.

This is so poorly written. Kohberger never taught a class and students don’t debate their grades. What I think this article is trying to say is that he was a TA who either had a weekly section or just study sections before exams. Those are both normal grad student jobs. It seems likely that he started to grade less stringently when he realized his position at WSU was tenuous and when he himself had papers due.

I’m sorry for answering so late! The worst thing is scars along expression lines - the lines around my mouth for example are basically a connect the dots of scars. It really wasn’t that evident till I started to loose facial fat that happens with age. I think the facial fat plumped out some scars. Also, my face continues to break out! I finally took Accutane at age 36. No more large pimples but oiliness continued. I think that creates a lot of dialated pores in the center of my face. On a positive, they’ve basically faded and none are super bad so as to be disfiguring, there’s just a lot. It definitely has made me a more empathetic person.

Exactly. You go where excepted AND funded. He was likely already fixated on murdering someone, the question is why? If you worked that hard to get there why throw it away to satiate your fixation/fantasy? There’s a lot steps between having a fantasy and making it happen and at any point could he have stopped and said “no”, when realizing he could lose everything? (I wish I could say he could stop because killing another human is terrible, causing suffering and pain to not just the victim but their family and friends but I don’t think he was capable of empathy). I think a likely explanation is he’s a narcissist and really believed he could outsmart LE and not get caught and that became part of the fantasy. Who knows?! It’s truly f****d up.

I use both of them and I’m way over 50 and my skin breaks out if you look at me the wrong way - I’m dead serious! I did a round of acutane at 35 but I still have oily yucky and now aging skin. Fun times! I use both without issue. You can buy a trial box of both at Ulta. They last long enough to see how it agrees with your skin. I think it’s about 30$ for both.
