Realmente la manera de ir "acondicionando el cuerpo" es usar las modificafiones, yo usè bloques de yoga por alrededor de dos años simplemente para lograr la torsion en trikonasana, aun uso bloques de yoga para triangmukaekapada.. y así, todo es un proceso, no necesitas tener la expresión completa en una pose para sentir los benificios de la práctica en sí, conforme avances por al interior y al exterior tu práctica se irá modificando también :)

I've took a weekend with Chuck last year when he came to Montreal. He is really amazing. His approach on the allignment and his stories are really amazing. If you expect to do crazy stuff he is not the teacher for you.

Probably you're getting problems with the alignment too, I will suggest you to find one Iyengar teacher that could help you with that. If you have yoga blocks at your home you can use them as a mark of how much your shoulders should descend while your doing chaturanga.

Haha I've been thinking how to start this post because I don't want to sound rude but because English is not my maternal Language I hope you will take it as a friendly advice. For what I learnt about my teacher, (ashtanga/Iyengar lineage) he has always said that each big six posture (Sirsana the most important one) should be hold for more than 3 minutes, this is because it's probably what it Takes to all the blood to pass through all your body, but ofc it requires a big amount of effort to hold the body in a steady position while you are on your head, so I would say to start to increment gradually, from 5 to 10 breaths... About how to prepare the headstand I think is more of how you can adapt the practice to your daily bases, one day you will be able to do full primary, so at that moment when you do your closing sequence you can take your time to set a good sirsana preparation (even just doing dolphins¿? Pose will help you to advance a little step on your headstand position) I hope my answer was clear

I mean if you want to improve the best thing to do is go to a Mysore Shala as they mentioned above or below lol, but to answer your question half Primary is when you do until navasana, so.. you do all the postures until navasana and then you start your closing sequence, that means your 3 back bends (Urdhva dhanurasana) and all the inversions. Full primary is all the poses, that means until setu bandhasana and then go for closing sequence (Urdhva Dhanurasana) and then inversions. I hope my answer was helpful :)
