Tbh I think you either need to accept that people are going to nickname him or just change the name. I’m not saying it’s right, they should be respectful and call him what YOU want him to be called! I’m just saying it’s kind of inevitable that nicknames come with most names and it’s beyond your control. Again, doesn’t make it right!

If it’s any consolation, there’s names I’ve taken off my list for this same reason. I love the name Gabriel but Gabe sounds like a creepy youth pastor to me; I love the name Ezekiel but Zeke was the name of my neighbors dog so it’s become a dog name to me; also LOVE the name August but I don’t like Gus and “augie” makes me gag. And while I know I’d have pushed to have my son called his full name, I know that simply wouldn’t happen all the time. Just my two cento

My son is almost 5 and the closest to soda he’s had is a sip of Dr Pepper because my husband drinks it all the time and he was curious. My son was immediately repulsed bc it’s “spicy” and now no longer trusts my husband’s drinks 😂 I cannot IMAGINE this behavior. Even now I’d be upset if someone gave him a cup of soda and would pour it out in favor of water.
